Need suggestions - make my living room lighter and cozy
Comments (61)a couple more thoughts... a ceiling light fixture will help and bring some interest for sure. have you thought more about one? art absolutely will help and so will pillows. I also think you might want to consider new inserts for pillows if you can. and larger size pillows like 20inx20in, not sure how that translates in com, but large size pillows will help. consider the size of the insert one size up from the size of the cover so it fills out the pillow and makes if more fluffy. if you get feather down inserts i would consider that too. thought I would share a couple pics that show how just a few additional features will make a difference. I like the idea of a couple large pillows on the floor too. I would style the coffee table a bit too...See MoreNeed your suggestions in decorating my living room
Comments (12)You can get one of the sisal-type rugs at Ikea to put under your existing rug to expand the space. This also helps if you like a rug but don't have the budget for a large size. I'd look at slip covers, purchased or made, for the furniture and a few decorative pillows. For furniture placement: A trick I learned from my mom: actually move the furniture around to see how different configurations really work - take everything out except the heavy furniture so do that first, then add the small stuff, plants, etc. Some nice decorative plant pots would also help the space. It looks like your furniture is placed a bit far away from the TV. You also could consider getting one of the expanding/rotating arms for the TV to give you more viewing/furniture placement options. It takes a little time to get the curated, layered looks that you see in pictures, but it can be done and takes less than you might think. Good luck!...See MoreSuggestions needed for the (big) final touches of my living-room
Comments (11)I like the bar idea. And I would definitely go with painted cabinets in a rich color to liven up the space. Everything you currently have is either espresso brown or gray, and that gets monotonous pretty quickly. How deep is that space? Because to put a wine/beverage fridge there, you'll need at least 24" but preferably 25" of depth. Here's a bar we did for a client that does not have a wine fridge, but has painted cabinets with glass shelving: Their place is decidedly more rustic than yours, but it just gives you an idea of what can be done. Or you could do something like this with a tile backsplash and open shelving: And FWIW, it doesn't have to be a built in. You could find a nice tall bar cabinet that fits in the space. Comments (1)When you get a new chandelier, be sure it is lower, close to your table. Some say 36 inches over the table. You could use black or bronze since you don't like gold....See MoreVicky Z
