Is this a wildflower or weed?

I planted wildflower seed last fall. However, I believe this is a weed?

I cannot find anywhere.

Bless anyone that can help with this ID. It needs to be removed if a weed. It's growing in several places. Thanks much. Linda

A weed is anything growing where you don't want it. So...we can't say if it's a weed or not.

It is likely wild lettuce, which one could say is a wildflower. The photo is so blown out, that I can't be sure of my id though.

It isn't wild lettuce. It looks like Triodanis perfoliata.

One of the persicarias (formerly polygonums). They include knotweeds, smartweeds, and lady's thumb. Probably Persicaria pensylvanica. Most all "wild flowers" are also classified as "weeds" depending on where they grow. Also cultivated flowers can be "weeds" if they are growing where they are not wanted. For example there is a "Rosa Rugosa" growing in a Lilac clump so that rose is a "weed" since I do not want it there. Where was the "wild flower" mix bought from? You are mostly right, Babs. Eupatoriums typically have opposite or whorled leaves. However, distal leaves are sometimes alternate. Since the first photo seems to mostly show just the top, branched portion of the plants and didn't show the lower half, I couldn't rule out Eupatorium. But I didn't have any great confidence in that genus, either. As stated earlier, we need flowers for more than guesses.

I have encouraged Triodanis perfoliate in several spots in my landscape. In the right spot they can put on a show. In the southeast, they die back during the summer. Might want to let them bloom before removing.
