Obviously the pano lens for realty pix has warped perspective a bit. At least with the TV on the longer wall you could watch from the breakfast nook. As I said above, I would float a sectional in the center of the room with one wing facing the TV on that big wall and the other facing the windows/view. The free standing wall would make a great spot for a tall piece of casegoods like a bookcase or secretary. Are you buying all new furniture or using what you have? Maybe we need to see pix of your stuff that you're contemplating using here.

I would not add blue to this room. The orange looks great, and suits the woodwork very well. The wall looks, to me, like it has some olive green tones in it. Green is the complementary color to orange, so that's why the walls and sofa look good, and go well with the rug which has both those colors. Blue would be jarring. The rug is a bit too small since the furniture does not touch it. I would face the sofa towards the fireplace with the rug in front of the sofa, with the sofa feet touching the rug. The gold chairs could go on either side of the sofa in a C shape, or remain side by side in an L shape conversation area. I'd put the orange pillows back on the sofa, and get new pillows for the gold chairs, in a solid green color taken from the rug. Consider a similar color for the drapes. I wouldn't put art over the fireplace, and definitely not a mirror since it wouldn't reflect anything interesting. Stick with sculptural items, maybe a bit bigger than the items you have now. Hang a piece of art work over each of those lovely bookshelves, a little lower than you currently have the one painting. Or even prop it on top. But don't put other things (vase, clock) on top of them. Too fussy and distracts from the woodwork. 2 desks is one too many in the room. Keep a desk on the wall where the guitar is, and leave the other wall free of furniture, as a walkway. Your white front door is a bit too bright, and doesn't look good with your woodwork. Paint it a green color, not too pale, that looks good with your pillows, rug and wall.

"'Which one do you like best?" Honestly, I like the single 5 seater with the two swivel chairs the most because it is open and easy to access. You can always pull chairs in from the dining room table if you need more seating for folks. But the single couch with the two chairs is really nice, balanced and all you will need for your daily use. I do like the couch with the chaise as well for daily use but then I like being able to put my feet up or even recline in the evening while watching TV.

I think you might be able to save the stair rail as is. It is rather Parisian and if you paint the mantelpiece a dark charcoal color it will tie the two together visually. Leave the fireplace tile surround as is. I would paint the walls a soft off-white color that complements the carpet including the brick and wainscotting and door and window trim. Use flat paint but use semigloss for door and window trim. Use a brighter white on the ceiling and beams and crown moldings and fan blades. Use flat paint except for the beams and crown moldings and blades use semigloss. Ditch the flourescent lighting for -dare I say it- track lights. They are coming back in style and you can wash the walls and artwork and shelves with light to really brighten up the space. Make sure the bulbs are dimmable and install a dimmer switch. Yes, use floating shelves. On the window across from the fireplace, hang drapes and sheers wide and tall that reach the floor. Choose a color for the drapes to complement your furniture but use white sheers that will distribute pure white light coming through. On a final note, paint the floor to ceiling fireplace an interesting color to add height, architectural intererest, a focal point for the room, and a counterpoint to balance the drapes across from it.
