Perhaps it is Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'Madonna'.

I got her from Theatrum Botanical (sp?), I'm still fairly new to brugs so I'm not sure if they're supposed to be fragrant just in the eveing or all day...but I can tell she is not fragrant in the day. I keep trying to run out there in the evening but it has been raining the past few nights!

Interesting. It very well could be. The tree itself was huge.. about 20' tall and 25' wide. It was definitely intentionally planted on a very nice piece of property right in the front corner of the house. I would estimate the tree to be at least 30-40 years old. Note.. the second pic is with the stiff wind blowing direct onshore. I had a hard time getting the petals straight out without blowing. A good representation of size is the first picture. In fact, after reading the description of the Grove Farm and then finding a few pictures of it.. I can see characteristics of both in the mystery bloom.. The usually seen wild living version, with up-angled branches is P. pendula f. ascendens (Makino) Ohwi. So, yes, probably ideally the weeping version would be designated as a variant of the upright. With for whatever reason the above naming not having been replaced with new combinations that reflect this. A similar instance - depending on how, exactly Prunus pendula Maxim. originated - may be Phyllostachys nigra (Lodd. ex Lindl.) Munro and P. nigra f. henonis (Mitford) Munro, wherein the latter is the parental species, with black bamboo being a seedling variant that appears after P. nigra f. henonis flowers. >that's probably because the origins of many of these cherries are/were so poorly understood< Many of the Latin names used for garden forms in the past date back to a time when this was general practice, and was not limited to the naming of Japanese cherries.
