Lars, they say you can put coffee grounds down around the plants and the slugs won't cross it as it's abrasive for them. I've not tried that though.

Lars - we had a pool at our previous home and placed a ring around our hostas with the diatomaceous earth from the filter - worked great to keep the slugs at bay.

Diatomaceous earth, coffee ground, egg shells, I have had the most success with slug bait by Ortho for slugs and hosta but I have too many for small applications.

Cold and snowy but the sky was beautiful

It snowed here yesterday......elsewhere....it's Spring.

Interesting that there is a "one way" sign with "Spring Street" in L.A., as it is always spring here, at least in my neighborhood, as far as temperatures go. My apple tree keeps its leaves most of the winter, and then they finally fall off during the rains in March. I think my tree doesn't know what season it is, and I usually get apples rather late in the year - usually October/November.

lgmd_gaz I find the edges on shaped puzzle hard to do. I had a lot done on this one before I got the edge all together, but it was fun.

My lenten rose didn't bloom this year. That's a first since I've had it. But we had -20º in January and I think maybe it killed the plant. Nothing but a pile of brown leaves.

My daffodils are not open yet.

I know, arcy! It makes me so sad to think that they might be dead. I have 4 plants and they all look dead. I usually have flowers in February. :(
