Comments (3)Anneliese, that was just beautiful. Thank you so much for that lovely piece! '---Wishing you a rainbow For sunlight after showers----' I don't think there's anything quite like that rainbow hovering in the sky, that renews the human spirit quite so profoundly. That was perfect! Your piece reminded me of my dear departed Irish-Catholic MIL... She had a green thumb, she had Banties, goats, Arabians, Great Danes, birds, a monkey or two at times, and cats. When the nannies were due, she'd put them into the old-kitchen-turned-into-a-huge-bathroom, complete with the old pantry, where she'd put a 3' high board across the open doorway to keep her in. There was nothing like taking a bath with two kids bleating questions around the door jamb every two seconds... Then, at breakfast, she'd let Mama outside to graze for awhile and the kids would run free through the old farmhouse. Of course, if we were eating breakfast, they'd tippy-tap around and around the table, asking for hand-outs---so spoiled and cute. When Sun Raffa, the Arabian mare would foal, I'd help pull the babys' forelegs out. Her foals would always stand almost immediately. Eunice would always tell me to go sit on a hay bale afterwards, while Napper-Dapper (nickname) cleaned her always-beautiful foal. Then the placenta would come. Napper would always quietly come over and thank me with a nuzzle to my head and a soft, "wump-wump" in my ear. Tears of joy would roll down my cheeks. We both had our babies and we recognized each other as kindred spirits....See MoreHappy St. Patrick's Day
Comments (5)Good to hear from everyone. The hair dos turned out great and we had alot of fun. Do I want to do it again? Not sure.LOL It snowed all day so I didn't go to the parade. We ended up with company and had a nice evening visiting tho. Had more company on Sun. so didn't get my training done either.Yikes... I have a hard time sleeping most nights due to my hips and groin hurting, just can't get comfortable. I've noticed I don't sleep as much as I use to on a daily basis. After so many nights of this I finally get home, eat dinner and before I know it I'm alsleep on the sofa. Don't wake up for 12 hours. I've been on fosamax for years and hope this doesn't have anything to do with that. Punk...See MoreHappy St. Patrick's Day
Comments (10)Oh gosh, Jaybird, I'm sorry I didn't mention what I'm playing with on this post--don't want you to have to go searching through old posts! I got a Cricut cutting machine for my birthday this year so I've been experimenting to see what I can make with it. I just used scrapbooking papers and cardstock on these--but allot of people use adhesive vinyl too, so I'll probably try some of that soon too. Kathleen, I just used Mod Podge on these for the glue and top coat. I just read where you can put multiple coats on it and can even seal it with the spray on sealer so they don't get "tacky" if stored in a hot place. I think I'd better do that since these will be in boxes in my outside storage area all summer--and since I know candles melt out there, these might get too hot too. I think I still might like the letters "painted" on instead of the paper letters--but just sticking the letters on sure is allot faster! Karen has shared some websites with projects that she has found while doing her nighttime surfing on the net. I'm getting lots of ideas for projects I might like to try . Thanks for letting me share my little projects with you all. I'm hoping to do more blocks and signs--maybe some cards--but can't let it take up too much of my time since I still have lots of things I want to paint too! Luvs...See MoreHappy St. Patrick's Day!

Sometimes I pretend the day doesn't exist and I'm mostly Irish with a touch of Scotland and Wales thrown in - all immigrant coal miners in the mid 1800's. DD is half. As a child growing up in Castle Shannon (a suburb of Pittsburgh) March 17th was the feast day of St. Patrick, not really the huge drinking event as it is now. The day began with a Mass in the Cathedral and then we'd march in the St. Patrick's Day Parade. I took step dancing lessons before someone decided that garish costumes and curly wigs were mandatory, sang all the old Irish songs with my dear Da, drank Brewley's or Lyon's tea with cream and sugar, and baked soda bread with currants with my Grandmother. We will have a special meal to celebrate this weekend when the kids come over for a birthday celebration. They always ask for corned beef and colcannon rather than the Irish stew or shepherd's pie we often had as kids. I took my son to Ireland for 10 days and we had great craic as they say - which means fun. He gallantly put up with me when I joined in the singing in the pubs at night but I spared both of us the embarrassment of dancing any jigs or reels. I hired a driver so that we could both sit back and relax and enjoy the scenery and not deal with the roundabouts and driving on the wrong side. DD's boyfriend is from London so we're trying to plan a trip to visit his family and then go on to Scotland or Northern Ireland. Maire...See Moremoonwolf_gw
