Jasminum Polyanthum grows in the rain forest where it seeks out sunlight - when it doesn't have "enough" sunlight it will grow, when it gets full sun it doesn't grow as fast. So, in the rain forest it can reach a height of 80 feet tall because it doesn't have full sunlight and it goes out to seek more sunlight. It doesn't need full sun to grow! But rather, filtered light is best. This promotes the plant to want to reach higher elevation, to get above the "canopy" it naturally grows under. In areas such as San Francisco it grows just fine in direct sun light, still can get quit large but not like in the rain forest. Also it's like 55-80F in San Fran. If you live in the desert, certainly, growing it in full sun light would burn it unless it is very large in size, well established root structure with adequate water supply, and is therefore able to protect itself. This means that, if it is big enough, the top would burn but it would protect everything else below the top of the plant. I would recommend planting the pot indoors, or at least in shade, until it's large enough to width stand the heat and intensity of full sunlight in your location. Keep it in a pot if you want to move it later, you would never be able to dig it up once it establishes itself in the ground. Good luck! My one of my koi died today he was healthy active yesterday and today he was dead.I'm almost positive I seen him eat a pink jasmine flower yesterday and not spit it out but I'm not sure it was him since 2 of my koi look alot alike,I have a pink jasmine vine right next to pond that was there before I put pond in 5 months ago.should I remove vine?please help I'm scared for my other pals.thanks in advanced

I absolutely do! I wanted to prune it last year, but I was afraid that I would kill it. Which is pretty funny in hindsight, as last year it kept insisting on growing into my bedroom and twining around the blind cord! It definitley has the will to grow! I will be out there in a day or two, it's raining like crazy right now. It is slow to leaf out for me, I think because I am at the edge of it's growing zone, but once it is leafed out it is very full and lush, and it puts out more flowers every year, and they have a distinct jasmine scent. However, there are so many jasmines that I woud appreciate any information I can find on this plant. It is cetainly robust, considering I was told that it would not do well here! Actually, I will go through last year's garden photos, I am certain to have photos of it in full foliage as well as examples of the flowers.

Yup, agreed. If you were to layer that section on soil, and pin it down, it would root very quickly....
