Back or Backless Bar Stools
Comments (23)It depends on how much they will be used. I went with backless because our table is fairly close to the island so the backs of the chairs and then the barstools with backs would have been too much, IMO. These backless stools push right in and don't compete with the chairs. The kids sit in them from time to time, and every once in a while an adult might sit for a short time while someone else is working in the kitchen. Once I'm finished up in the kitchen, I'm ready to go sit at the table or in the family room so I don't see the need for anyone to get too comfy on the stools....See MoreNarrowing down quality counter stool Brands (help)
Comments (37)I want to also thank everyone as we have been running around like chickens without heads trying to find bar stools for our redo. similar problems too as our cabs are cherry, floors are dark (ipe) counters are typhoon bordeaux, dining table and chairs are all cherry and LR couches are off whie leather. all three rooms open to one another and I realized if I just realized if I went with wood, it would be wood heaven in there. we also just decided we didn't want backs on the stools. we also want our stools to swivel, otherwise I'd have gone with the matching stools. Here is a link that might be useful: our dining chairs...See MoreNeed opinions on counter stools in kitchen.
Comments (27)I’m looking at counter height stools myself. I’m looking for faux leather or vinyl because I’m short and sliding in and out of a stool will not be easy for Me — I can’t slide in and out if upholstered so you might want to think of that when your kids are Getting in and out of them. And I do want swivel but make sure they are 360 degree because if you have the others with return once someone gets Out of the stool it will rotate back and SMACK into the countertop— just my thoughts. I may think too much BUT gotta think of everything...See MoreNeed help w/ Dining Chairs to complement Counter Stools
Comments (22)I think that tall back windsor style chairs can have a lot of look around a 48" table and will make it feel too cramped. Look at pics of them with 4 around a table and see what the size room looks like. I too think the chandelier is a bit too big but it is ok because the arms are slender. I think if you pair it with all the spindles in a windsor chair, that area is going to start looking like a bar code! Also, given that your husband is a large man, I would absolutely not get a cheap chair you have to assemble. Go to a store where you can sit on them and feel what they are like for both comfort and quality. And pay attention to the width of the seat no matter what chair you get....See MoreJAN MOYER
