Single vs. Double Barn Door- Pros and Cons?
Comments (15)I even have an actual barn and don't want barn doors on it! I say go with something simpler to use and more practical. If you absolutely are going with barn doors, I would have two. Then instead of moving an insanely large door back and forth you could leave one closed all the time and just haul the other one open and closed....See MorePros and Cons of Slab Doors on Kitchen Cabinets
Comments (1)Yes. It’s more of a problem depending on where you live, but yes. Cabinet makers have ways of working with this, so it’s not out of the question, but a solid walnut door is going to be expensive and it may warp. Plywood can also warp. The way to do veneer properly is to do it over dimensionally stable furniture grade MDF....See MorePros and cons of door-less showers?
Comments (2)We have had doorless showers with heated bathroom floors for 30 years. We turn the water on for a little bit before getting in to take any chill off. Once I am in the shower under the water and when I get out I am fine. My husband really doesn’t like to be cold and he doesn’t mind it either. In our old house there was a big window right next to the shower, looking out into the woods, no neighbors. Occasionally, when it was very cold and windy outside I would notice somewhat of draft. Not in our new house, where the windows are on the other side of the room. If you really like the closed up shower, hot steam room feel, you might not like an open shower. I love the expansive feel of it and don’t miss the steam room aspect at all....See Morepivot doors pros and cons
Comments (16)The doors can be attractive and I've used them for interior spaces since 1979. I'm sure there are no issues with the mechanics. So I would have no concern about using them. They are not new. However, I caught a digit in a dryer door yesterday, and I never thought that would ever happen. These doors have the potential to be a safety concern for the very young and the very old especially if there is no hold open or closer involved. A pivot door with a frame seems all wrong. The door is a minimal aesthetic and the frame blows it. Below illustrates a bad location for a great door. IMO the flooring should be the same level on either side of the door for at least a few feet. These pivot doors seem to work in the space. I admit the frame with the glass door makes sense to me in this image below.....See Moresalex
