hi Mary, sounds like you have a pretty small area to work with here. Keep in mind usually when going into a corner the square footage you use of floor space will usually be greater than that of a flat wall installation, but is offset by the convinience of being "out of the way." None of these units will really over heat you too much being as they are primarily like a masonry old fashioned fireplace. Really they are more for radiant heat meaning what the flame can see it will heat up. By what the flame see i mean what the light of the flame touches immediately in front of the fire box. I have worked with all of these units but have spent more time with Lennox units. They are a well made fireplace and if you are concerned about smoke you can also have an outside air kit installed on the unit to help with the draft. hope this has helped you in some way

I think it is fine that the rug and countertop are not the same pinks. Too much matchy-matchy and the rooms lose depth and interest. Rather than overload on pink, I think it would be nice to pick a pale green for the whole space. It will help your pinks stand out. Or depending on how much wall space you have in the kitchen, you could do a paler shade of green there and a deeper shade of the same family in the DR. Look to the leaves in the rug for help. Think about roses and peonies in artwork, cranberry and burgundy glassware, drapery in a rich plaid or floral that incorporates the pinks and greens

Yes, that was my thought, ivy was dainty for the heavy stone fireplace. I really like the leaf and acorn one, why did I doubt my decision, it's not paint!! LOL Thank you.

I like the black brick too. you could easily chip out those 3 pieces on the hearth and replace w/black stone. I like your stone in the entry way. it has no bearing on the hearth though. If you have the ability to do it, I would. it won't be expensive, at all. chip out the old, put in the new. fill the gaps w/dark grout. would look just like this: or, you could even use a cement or the porcelain cement-look tiles or a marble tile. would only take a few sheets.
