Would Mona Lavender do well in a self-watering pot?

I have a huge, beautiful Mona Lavender plant that has flourished with me for two years now. I want to transplant a cutting into a smaller container, and I now have one with roots ready to plant. I have a self-watering container, and am wondering if that would be a good choice for a Mona Lavender plant? The mother plant I have in the big container has a drainage hole, and seems more sensitive to underwatering than overwatering. Wondering how this plant would do in a container where it is basically sitting in moisture all of the time? I know it's not for every plant.
