Hosta I 2018 ....
Comments (52)Now, onto the "I" hostas of which I only have one. Except I have two of the same. A strong growing hosta. Island Breeze, #1 Island Breeze #2 I think this hosta looks better with some sun. The yellow would be brighter with even more sun (which I don't have). And look at those legs! Love the Ivory Coast hosta (Liberty look alike). I lost mine to crown rot unfortunately. Lots of "I's" for you Ken! That Island Charm has a lot of bloom stalks! Must have been a beauty when blooming. And it's a small. Always room for another small. Unfortunately, I don't see it offered that often---in Canada anyways. Love that Ice Follies sunnywood, Karin, sandyslopes and tiddisolo! How long have you had it? Love the wavy edge and color of Indigo, peren.all. Nice Invincible seedling. Your poor Irish Luck, Steve! Laura, hope your serious discussion with your puppy does the trick! Wow, you were very patient with kitty, sandyslopes! Good for you, and kitty!...See MoreHosta Container Grown 2018
Comments (26)steve..so sorry the deer came by..it's happened to me but not since they had a "deer hunt" at the big park (3900 acres) down the street a few years ago..scientists said the park couldn't support the population..the deer were coming to neighborhoods close to the park (like mine)..there were protesters but the hunt took place..my husband is not a hunter..I think it's sad but so are starving deer..it did cut the population..I haven't seen deer in my yard for years..that bed is loaded..it's going to be so lush.. great ideas everyone!...See MoreCompanion plants for hosta
Comments (6)One that I like against big, bold hostas is Amsonia hubrictii. The contrast in leaf shape is great with the big hosta in front. Massive, blue leaved varieties seem to work best. The Amsonia tends to open into a wide, soft spray and turns a brilliant gold in the fall. My hostas are shot this time of year due to cold, so no pic. I also like red compliments - heuchera/tiarella/heucherella in the foreground with purple smoke-bush in the back. I have a white-margined hosta in this set-up, but imagine that yellow and blue would be equally complimented....See MoreCompanion Plant for Hosta Garden
Comments (2)Well I have wild violets of several colors coming up all over so sure they live with my hosta, and in my yard and in the driveway.........See Moresteve duggins(Z6a) - Central Ohio
