Color Variation between Wall & Floor Size of Same Tile?
Comments (1)It can be a "crap shoot," and varies from company to company and tile to tile. It is not unusual for different size tile, even in the same dye lot to vary a bit. Smaller tile is often just "cut down" larger tile. Examining the back will often show this up. The smaller tile may not have a "complete" border etching...indicating it was cut after firing. This is done often with bullnosed tile. Chances are that these tiles were from different "firings" and may well very. If the differences aren't huge, you might even like the subtle shade variations. Your call......See Morewall tile and floor, same or different?
Comments (10)I'd go with what you like regardless of current trend. All trends can look great or look bad. I think it depends on the arrangements of the selections and the colors. Do you like high contrast than use dark on one plane and light on another. I like a darker floor, but I do have natural oak in my living/dining room areas and love it. But I think the reason is that it offers contrast, which i have discovered I like. In my first bathroom remodel I went with with white tile wainscot, and a dark gray slate floor. There are so many beautiful tiles. I have a friend that just had their house built. She selected all the components. She has a lot of very grayed paints and carpets. She missed though on the carpet and some of the walls. She didn't match the undertones very well. I don't even know if she is aware of this. The colors are wrong, though the amount of dark vs light is correct. There is a cast of pink in her carpet that I could see, that is way off for her wall paint color. If it was a B&W photo it would be fine. But add the very muted colors and its a miss. Anyway I feel like I am blathering on, lol. Good luck on your project....See MoreWhat to do when you can't find the same floor tile?
Comments (9)thank you all for your recommendations, I have found where to get the tile, now installed !! now I need to design an office wall with a granite center. the width is 94 inches. I was thinking of having a book serve to the side so that I can have 2 that roll out from the side. what do you think? thank you...See MoreShould wall tile size be smaller than floor tile?
Comments (2)Either is ok. In a shower, you need small tile because the grout provides traction, so you can do the same with a bathroom floor, but plenty of people stick with a large format and it works just fine....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
