How much space between hood and cabinets?
Comments (3)My KD told me the standard is 3 inches, but if I did that my cabs on either side would have to have been 21 inches, which I didn't want. Mine is right up against the cabs and I haven't had any problems with it being that way....See MoreWhat to do with space between window casing and upper cabinets
Comments (4)I prefer a bit of breathing room between cabs and window/door casings so wouldn't re-do to push cabs to your casings. I have situation around my corner pantry casing that caused me to pause. Because of some framing issues, the exposed wall around the casing is small and not symmetrical on both sides. Instead of narrow, assymetrical strips of wall paint used elsewhere in the space, I painted them the trim color (also the cab color) so it all blends in together. In your case, I would paint with your wall color....See MoreHow much space between range hood and cabinet?
Comments (3)I have 6" of space between the widest part of my hood and the cabinet on either side of it. I didn't give much thought to how many inches would be best. I just knew I wanted some space between the cabinet and the hood. In retrospect I wish I had just done 4" because then I could have made the two narrow cabinets on each side 2" wider. I think 4 inches of space would have been fine. Some people will say that you need more space or the sides of your cabinets might get some grease on them. My kitchen is almost 5 years old now and there has not been one bit of grease ever on the cabinets by the hood. Here's how 6" of space looks with my hood. And here is a link to previous discussions about spacing between cabinets and hoods. Space next to hood...See MoreWindow placement between kitchen cabinets with uneven spaces...HELP!
Comments (1)IMO no shelves and no corner cabinet open shelves are a PITA and near a range a total mess all the time This is how I handled some off windows in a renovation BTW I would move the fridge since I never like crossing in front of a range to get from fridge to sink and also make sure all the base cabinets are drawers too....See MoreUser
