I would like to share my expereience with this plant. I have grown Calatheas before and I know they like humid conditions. Last year this plant was doing good until late summer then it started to drop the leaves I thought it was dead. I brought the pot inside for the winter with the intentions of dumping and using the pot for another plant. It sat in the laundry room all winter and about April I saw new leaves coming up. The correct name is Calathea Dottie if you want to look it up. This is what it looks like now. I have it outside in dark shade, we are having a very hot and humid summer it is putting out two leaves a week. It should be back to its large size by the end of summer. So I shared this with you to say,. If it goes dormant do not give up on her. LOL

Thanks all. I've got a bunch of young jades, as well as several other more obvious bonsai candidates: ficus, schefflera, hedera ivy, olive, Australian mint bush (although the one I have did not respond well at all to root pruning and seems to have collapsed) and a juniper. The little guy in question was just a cheap hardware store pickup that I thought might have potential. If not, it's not a big deal at all. Will still make an interesting addition to my collection.
