Comments (12)My advice on potty training is ALWAYS the same. Crate training and potty outside on a lead with a command. It works great until they get old and senile and can't remember anything(grrr). Just type in "crate training" you'll get a lot of hits. They all work so just pick what you like. Potty training on the leash is wonderful.I put the lead on the dog with a pinch collar. If it's their regular ID collar they might slip out.If you don't like a pinch collar a harness is good too. I don't do any leash training at this time. I carry the puppy to exactly where I want it to learn to go. I put the puppy down and repeat a phrase I want the puppy to recognise for elimination. I chose "let's go pee-pee" in a high pitched voice because for some reason a squeaky voice makes my puppies have to pee? I say it over and over until the puppy is done fighting the leash (passive resistance I just let it wear itself out),sniffing around and jumping up on me. Once the puppy eliminates I give it a piece of cat food. All my puppies have been crazy about cat food. I do this at regular intervals until the puppy is trained to go on command. This is VERY handy traveling. PJ Good luck....See MoreYou got to love our furbabies when they are bad!
Comments (4)IÂm glad to know that other people have entertaining animals. My one dog has figured out how to turn the VCR off with his nose. He has also figured out how to hit the snooze alarm button. This can be good and bad. I can take a nap on the sofa and when the alarm goes off tell him snooze and he will go hit the snooze button and come back to the sofa. He will only hit the snooze button once! If I try to get him to hit it again he will go stand by it and bark at me. I just got an old treadle sewing machine to fix up and I think he knows that the treadle is suppose to move he keeps putting his paw on it. I don't know what I would do without my animals. By the way I have 3 dogs, 3 pregnant goats, 27 chickens and a husband. SUELLEN...See MoreSam-Wow! and, of course, Harry 4 photos
Comments (16)I have MANY quilts that my mom has made. (She is a quilter.) Maybe I need her to make one especially for Dexter. But not on the couch. For a long time I have so enjoyed all the furbaby pictures. We have not had a furbaby in our hosue for a really long time. Sow now that we have Dexter, I feel like I'm part of the club! Today we took Dexter to the dog park. My first time ever being at a dog park. And I loved every minute. I even suggested we get a lab puppy in a couple of years and DH agreed! Yes, Dexter has pulled at our heart strings. But Harry pulled at them first. I've always told Caroline how much we love Harry photos. My daughter LOVES Harry so whenever there was a Harry picture, I'd show her. Thank you, Caroline! Sheryl...See MoreNew Furbaby - First Time at Dog Park!
Comments (23)Pawsitive - Jamie didn't have any paperwork on Dexter except, thankfully, his last vet visit a couple of months ago, showing he is up to date on all his vaccinations. Thank goodness! Thank you, everyone, for your kind words! Jamie lived in CA (we live in OR) so we didn't see him much. However, whenever he visited, he drove up so that he could bring Dexter. Jamie had a girlfriend who asked if she could have Dexter for awhile after Jamie's death. As much as we wanted Dexter, we knew she might want him permanently. However, after a month she said she knew he needed to be with us, that Jamie had told her many times that he wanted Dexter near all his family in OR if something happened to him. Dexter was Jamie's child. He was well loved. We just feel so blessed to have Dexter in our lives. Caroline - My daughter, Rachel, and I have always loved pictures of Harry. Every time she'd see a picture of him, she wanted a dog. Now she has one! Sheryl...See Moresprtphntc7a
