Thanks, everyone, for your answers! I think you're probably right, Dan, but I can't post pictures, and knowing as little as I do about trees, probably have not described this very well. All I know at this point, it looks lovely, smothered in white blooms, just gorgeous. Guess I'll just enjoy!

Well, I wouldn't describe the leaf color as bluish-grey (light green, maybe?), but the rest of it seems to fit Mesembryanthemum crystallinum...a really cool plant, IMO! They can take on a very nice red coloring too. :) A couple of my pix: I brought a few branches home from the stables a couple weeks ago...but forgot them, so the leaves are all shriveled up now. Like everything it looked like it, you will need to actually see what it looks like on the wall to make sure you like it. I see a kinda gray black in the picture

@Jessica...The floors in the photo are badly done. They are splotchy (the stain did NOT go down nicely = not acceptable from a floor staining professional) with a SUPER heavy grain. Your photos show a cinnamon based orange floor. It is possible the lower-grain level is due to a higher grade of red oak. A superior grade of red oak can have very soft grain pattern. The one in your inspiration photo is a very strong grain...which is what a lower grade red oak is known for. That floor was probably water popped as well to get the grain to pick-up all the colour. This is what the website says for the floor: "Hardwood Flooring: MinWax Dark Walnut, 3 coats Oil based Satin Finish." Oops. That's ORANGE based satin if you want to read it that way. The colour of the floors will get darker with more orange/brown as it ages. I would guess the floor was done just a day or two before the photo shoot. In 3 years it will be a stronger colour that what you are seeing here. Go ahead and find an NWFA Certified Sanding/Refinisher to come out and offer a quote. The finish on your wood looks to be in GREAT shape. It is highly possible these floors are finished in Aluminum Oxide (makes them super tough to scratch and INSANELY EXPENSIVE to refinish). Most professionals can 'see' the type of finish on a floor. Aluminum Oxide (factory finished) has a rather specific look (can't always tell from a photo). A HIGH END professional refinisher will be able to tell you how much MORE it will cost to refinish an AO finish. And how long it would take. Once you accept the contract, your very professional stain master will put down several stain options on the raw floor (s/he can sand off a 5ft x 5ft patch for you) with a single coat of finish on top. You will then choose your favourite from the selection offered.
