WANTED: Have / Want - updated trade list
Comments (0)Please check my trade list. Although most of the seeds on my want list are for next year (since my garden space has already been fully planned for) I wouldn't mind getting the Malabar spinach if available, and the plants this year. Thanks...See MoreDrop ceiling and vinyl plank floors. Suggestions please.
Comments (12)Saw this awhile back on a Candice Olson show - Candice Tells All. She used the system in one of her TV projects At the time there was only one US distributor. I've seen it used in a bathroom on a Bath Crashers show....See MoreLaminate floor suggestion for this room please! (Lots of photos)
Comments (6)Right now you have a clash between the yellow maple cabs (which are being turned green with your lighting) and the chocolate/washed flooring. Total mismatch of undertones. That being said, the undertones are PERFECT for the fireplace AND the banister. You can look at a European Oak-look laminate. They often have tones of silver AND gold (small amounts of gold) in them. That could be enough to satisfy the kitchen (assuming you wish to update the lighting) and the dark banister/fireplace trim. Right now the banister and the fireplace trim are the STARS of the show in your space. Getting the gold/green in the cabinets to play nice with chocolate/black can be hard. There is one CERTAIN way to deal with this: Tile in the kitchen and laminate flooring everywhere else. Laminate flooring should NOT be installed in kitchens. They have MASSIVE issues with water/steam. The steam from dishwashers has been enough to cause a moderate priced laminate to bubble and peel inside of 3 years. The simplest answer is the obvious answer: split the two floors and allow the colour tones in each room to speak for themselves....See MoreFlooring Suggestions Please..
Comments (20)I happen to like when not everything in a home matches. Having tile in bathrooms, kitchens, entries and hardwood elsewhere makes sense. Hardwood is expensive, but it is also vulnerable to water damage. Usually you see entry mats so the floors aren't ruined by the moisture tracked in on our shoes and boots. Tile is durable, easy to clean, but it is hard and cold. You dinnerware will break if it hits the floor. Personally, I like LVT. I specifically chose it over wood or tile or carpet. I wanted easy care and a cushioned base. I was replacing carpet and sheet vinyl that the previous owners had put in 20 years ago - worn out. I am also nearing 60, so if it only lasts 20 years I will either be dead, downsized, or unable to see the defects by the time it needs replaced. If I had hardwood elsewhere and really couldn't tolerate tile in the entry and kitchen, I would choose a tile look LVT rather than spending a lot of money on hardwood that may get damaged due to wet conditions or trying to match the hardwood to a wood look LVT....See MoreB J Mack
