Jeld Wen vinyl or wood? They have three series of wood. So which are you looking at? Facing west, you are going to get hammered in the winter as well. Just make sure you ask for their highest DP rated door and be sure to use Cardinal 366 for maximum sun protection.

@meganhowlett did you ever get your Jeldwen door issue solved? I am having same issue, with same jeldwen door (mine has blinds inside glass), and wish I would have seen this thread before having this door installed and trusting my contractor (who has since quit without giving me the paperwork for the door, all because I questioned the door, the installation, and the amount I paid the contractor for the door).

I just had an Inovo door installed. It is the 6068 model. This is regarded by most contractors as being "standard" as it is 6'8". The opening clearance is 74 1/2". This is, in my opinion, a bit too short. The framework on these doors is a bit beefier than most doors--likely explaining the lesser opening. I am having the door replaced with the 60610 model which is two inches higher. That is still not the clearance of some doors but it will work for me. Fortunately, my contractor and the local lumber yard are being very good to me regarding the hassle. I really like the door but the sill is a little higher than most. It stands up about an inch above my finished floor but other installations may not have the same results. I plan on installing a transition board to avoid the tripping issue. If your header is high enough to accommodate the higher door, I HIGHLY recommend it.

kayce03 Folding are more expensive and they also obstruct the view more when closed. It's a myth. Not necessarily more expensive, you need to know where to look and shop around, I did and have factory direct quotes less than $1k/ft. They certainly don't obstruct the view more when closed, you need to select the right sized door and will obstruct the view no more than a slider.
