Comments (16)I would also recommend floating the sectional. Having it pushed against the wall maximizes floorspace (if that's what you want) but tends to make a space feel disconnected and not at all cozy. I like Celery's furniture suggestions, but I would pull the whole seating group closer to the fireplace and put bookshelves or some other storage piece against the wall. It looks like there is enough room to do that and still have space to walk behind the sectional....See MoreLiving Room decor help!
Comments (5)Pretty room. I'd move the black bookcase to the opposite corner away from the window (where your baby chair is located). In its old place, comsider a floor plant, like a fiddle leaf fig - examples below, I don't t think this room needs two more short bookcases /furniture pieces. Why a floor plant? The added cool greenery will offer a beautiful contrast to your red warm-toned rug. I see you have one plant on the mantle, but it isn't enough to give the contrast that's needed....See MoreLiving room decor help!
Comments (0)Hi everyone, I’ll be moving into a new place and I have an odd shaped living room I could use some advice on! I was thinking a couch up against the wall across from the fireplace and two accent chairs (but comfy ones) in front of the windows with an accent table in between. Not sure if those accent chairs would look like they are floating off a rug though? The way the room is shaped if I were to get a rug and put it under the accent chairs and the couch it would be HUGE! I also am open to the idea of something besides accent chairs - maybe a love seat? It’s obvious the prior owners furniture is oversized. My only request is that the room is functional - I want if we have five guests over to not feel like they are sitting in a lawn chair to the left while I sit on the couch. Including the couch I was thinking of using here as well. Thanks so much everyone!!!...See MoreLiving room decor help
Comments (5)You may want to consider a few different things when it comes time for painting the walls of your home. For example, if you live in an east-facing house and see blue skies during the day while looking out from between two windows (or one window), then white paint might not be enough - as bright colors will appear too intense at night when compared with other options such as cool blues or yellows! You can also look into which way that sunlight enters through: south facing rooms get washed over by warm glow; west sides gets lost beneath dark shadows Contrast the higher decorating details with lower stylings. From couches and chairs that sit close to the ground, to coffee tables and ottomans that are designed to be low, the contrast of high and low designs will stretch your space and give the illusion of a larger room. Light is a key design feature in any room, but it is essential in a small space. Skip the heavy window treatments that will block out the natural light and choose curtains or shades that will let the light in. Add interesting lamps and light fixtures to your room that go beyond just a lamp on an end table. Brighten a wall and add a fun design detail with wall sconces. Choosing the right rug for your space is important. When designing a small living room, avoid large pieces of furniture that will crowd it and make everything else seem tiny in comparison- but when choosing rugs don't fear because bigger IS better! A great way to anchor any area without making things feel too bustling? A luxurious thick carpeting with rich color tones could be just what you need so guests know exactly where they're at before walking through those doors...See MoreLaura Villar
