Kohler Whitehaven sink question
Comments (20)We have a 30" Kohler whitehaven sitting in out basement awaiting the cabinets. I love the look and can't wait to have it in place. I read alot of threads and decided against fireclay. Next I searched around and found that some of the cast iron apron sinks are soooo pricey. The whitehaven fit the bill. Best price, self-trimming and has the look I wanted. My cabinet guy was happy to hear that it was self-trimming. I got it for $637 dollars on-line from efaucets but be careful because the shipping is expensive. My freight shipping was over a hundred dollars....See MoreReveal (and another ABB club member)
Comments (58)Long time no post over here - so forgive me for that. I've moved onto basements now. We are still happy with Waypoint. I do think the top drawer of the stacks is a bit shallow but have no comparison point with other brands. So far they have held up well in terms of the finish and durability. We STILL haven't put up a backsplash!!! We know what we want, we bought about half the supplies and still they sit waiting for us to find time. We've had another baby so time is scarce. The honed delicatus looks the same as when it was installed. I still wish we had honed the perimeter too but it wouldn't do to not have a few regrets, right? Hubby is still happy with the polished choice and they sure are bulletproof but also fingerprinty....See MoreWhitehaven Sink: What Reveal-Pick It Again?
Comments (18)This is totally off subject but may be of help. Our sea salt Whitehaven is sitting in our cabinets waiting for the kitchen to be finished. I also purchased the stainless racks, and the first thing I noticed is that the rack doesn't surround the drain, as in AvatarWalt's photo above. We have a second kitchen in our house with a Kraus sink and stainless rack which surrounds the drain. The Kraus rack is much more robust than the Whitehaven racks, and even so, we have had items slip through the rack which left some scratches in the sink. I was at Aldi today and saw silicone sink mats for $4.99. These are designed with feet so they are elevated above the sink and are customizable so you can also cut a hole for the drain. I am going to use these to protect the area around the drain. These are very similar to the OXO mats I saw on Amazon for $14.95. The size of the ones at Aldi are 11.22 x 12.68 so depending on your sink, you may need more than one....See MoreHow did you have your Whitehaven sink delivered?
Comments (7)Great pick! This is a gorgeous sink. I kept an eye out for sales at the Kohler showroom, Wayfair, Lowes and Home Depot since I had time to order. When it went on sale at Lowes, my DH called HomeDepot to price match and we got an extra 10% off. We had the sink delivered to the store. My DH wanted to inspect it before taking it home and he would have asked for an exchange if it was damaged. Also, I didn't want it delivered to the house and left at the bottom of the front steps until I got home from work. And I didn't want to drag it into the garage on my own. Side note, I blew all the savings on the Pete's sink mount recommended by Joe Corlett. Shipping, duties/taxes and exchange to Canada adds up. But it did make leveling the sink a breeze. It was well worth it. I have about a 1/2" positive reveal around the sink. I have my faucet handle facing forward just over the edge the counter. I can keep my drippy hands in the sink. The Kohler sticker on my sink was 1/4" off center which the installer used as a guide for centering the faucet hole (I watched him do it) so my faucet is 1/4" off centered. If I could do it again, I would have asked if I could have a minute to throw up my laser level across the center of the sink. If you're not aware, you'll need to order the drain and sink grid separately. I ordered it from the Kohler showroom since I wanted to see the different finishes in person and it was delivered the next day. I asked if there were any promotions and they gave me 30% off....See Morekingadrian
