Thanks, Buehl for the push in the right direction. Here are some additional details on my kitchen. The door to the porch is located to the left of the refrigerator and the end of the cabinets on the bottom right is a large entrance to the great room. Directly in front of the kitchen is the dining area. We entertain informally a lot at our cabin and often 8-10 people congregating around the kitchen. Goals are more storage, maintain seating at counter, and allow more than one flow out of kitchen area. The existing layout of the kitchen has a peninsula. I am planning to replace with an island so there is a better flow out of the kitchen. The island will be pushed out further from the sink as well to provide more room. The island will also provide seating for 4 or stand around room for more. My husband loves to cook so that's why he want the 6-burner stove and the prep sink. In exchange, I clean up so I wanted the large farm sink. A couple of friends often help husband in the kitchen or bring food that needs to be warmed in the oven. Friends often stay overnight so the plan for the bottom right corner of the layout which narrows is a coffee bar - again to keep bodies out of the kitchen. Not represented on the drawing but planned is a beverage center on the left of the layout. 18 inches deep so as not to interfer with walkway through door with open shelves above for pint glasses. Pantry is located just outside the view of the layout and is a deep closet. We plan to remodel with lots of slideouts rather than current wire shelves. Appliances include 36" French Door LG Stainless 24" Dishwasher 36" Red Bertazzoni 6-burner range 36" Electrolux Icon Designer Vent Hood No flexibility on moving the window since its a log home. And I prefer the sink under the window. The log home is currently utilized as our weekend home with plans to become full time upon our retirement. Current I probably forgot to answer something so just let me know. Sorry I started so slow with just a layout. I have been reading the posts for a while and was just excited to have a layout to get feedback on that I forgot to give details!

Logcabinkitchen, thanks! The back wall of the backsplash does match the red loft wall. The red wood is actually reclaimed barnwood from a dismantled barn. I don't have any pictures posted on here but I can post a link to the photo bucket album. mtn -- building would be the most desirable option -- if only a good lot of land would come up for sale! Then I just have to show my inlaws a bunch of pictures of sochi's gorgeous Canadian cabin. The absolute perfect lot (locationwise) JUST came up today - but heartbreakingly, I think it's a mistake listing. I believe the realtor meant to list non-waterfront land down the street (based on the property description which is identical for both new listings). I've already pinged my realtor about it though! Just to emphasize how perfect it is, just last week I actually paid the $6 to land registry for just this exact lot to find out who the owner is. I was contemplating writing him a letter (but hadn't moved on that yet). We have tromped around some other lots (leading to saga of nail through rubber boot in the middle of the wilderness), only one of which was acceptable (not swampy), but my husband felt it was too sloped. I felt it was just fine...I think it's hard to envision the lot for the trees sometimes. (This is my favorite lake, we've been looking at a dozen or so others as well). How can i edit my original post to delete out the comment about the Christmas tree? People are misunderstanding me :( I'M NOT PLANNING MY ROOM AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE, FRIENDS lol I was simply saying that's why I didn't want built in's was because when I built this house that was my designated spot for it and I can't do that with a built in there. Y'all are so funny. I know people are crazy obsessed with Christmas so I get the confusion, people on my facebook already have their tree up! hahaha :) One of the biggest issues I am having is with artwork. I was going to put some on either side of the fireplace but when I look for lodge style artwork it looks (as my best friend lovingly puts it) like it belongs in the house of some 80 year old redneck woman living in a travel trailer and frying a deer steak LOL and yes, I hate to say I can see where she's coming from. I'm not sure how to mix none redneck art into a lodge theme/style. Deer, moose, bear, etc. all go with the lodge but all wall decor I find that have those have that 1980's redneck outdated look no matter what frame it's in.
