Where do you put your kids art/school supplies?
Comments (8)drawers. I like drawers for this sort of stuff. easier to get out, easier to sort, easier to store. Open draaer, stash stuff, close drawer. Get those Sterilite 3-drawer sets (or an Iris-brand cart w/ the shallow drawers, if you want), and put in dividers. iris makes a nice one for this that I use in my Sunday School classroom--it has two shallow drawers on top and a deeper on one the bottom; I got it at Office Depot. I put the scissors, glue sticks, etc., in the upper drawers, and the paint and playdough in the bottom deep drawer. I used those "score and snap" drawer dividers from the Container Store (actually got mine at Target, though) to divide the drawers so stuff doesn't slide around everywhere. At home I have those little drawer organizing containers from Rubbermaid, which work almost as well, but not quite. For markers, the secret is to have a drawer that's EXACTLY as wide (well, OK, an extra inch is OK, but NO MORE) as the marker is TALL. Then, the markers can't end up at an angle. I was lucky to find a little skinny 3-drawer set exactly wide enough, but I can't find them anymore. Though maybe the small Sterilite ones would work. And Rubbermaid makes a small one--not sure if it's skinny around side-to-side If all else fails, put some sort of divider inside a larger drawer, to keep the markers from sliding end-to-end, and ending up tipped at an angle. I just cut cardboard into strips and taped in place w/ packing tape in one of my drawers. I do find that I keep too much. Right now I've used drawers and other containers to fill a shelf intheir room, but most of it just never gets used. I need to weed out. I have actually thrown away, in the past, and entire shoebox full of crayons. Here is a link that might be useful: Sterilite's three-drawer chests--other companies make similar ones...See MoreWhen does your school start?
Comments (13)Our kids start on the 3rd of September, right after Labor day. They usually get out around the 2nd or 3rd week in June. Of course that depends on how many snow days we have. I think the children have to go 178 days of school here in our town. NancyLouise...See MoreDid Your School Have a Senior Trip?
Comments (60)No school trip for me and my fellow students. We were lucky to get a graduation ceremony. If you played a competitive sport or played in the band, you'd get to ride the team bus to games. I did get three trips in high school due to science projects. The first one was a butterfly collection, 2nd was a phono oscillator that had a range of nearly 1/4 mile - had to be careful which frequency I broadcast with on that one - and for the 3rd one, I converter the phono oscillator into 5 tube superhet AM radio. For each of the three, my science teacher used his personal car to provide transportation. At the regional fair, I snagged a first place rating with the 3rd item and was entitled to compete at the state fair. Again, my science teacher came through. He arranged the trip and again, he used his car. We stayed at his brother's house; It required most of a day to get there. While there, his brother drove us to a couple of places in his Hupmobile. Yes folks, I have ridden in a Hupmobile! This was my class trip in 1954....See MoreIdeas for a non-contact, social activity
Comments (32)I sent the video to my family group text, but my cookbook group might find it offensive. Crude, yes. Attention getter, yes! Geezer singing it, even better. We are under a stay at home order. Yet, friends invited us over for cocktails saying we would stay on the patio and 6 feet from each other. I love these people. They are both intelligent beyond measure. They are generally rule followers. What are they thinking?!? I declined, pleading DH’s health issues. We had a Zoom b’day party for DBIL last night. It was great! Maybe we ought to do a family story thread. DN is an aspiring comedy writer, DD is fairly creative, DSIL has a wicked sense of humor.... This could be interesting! Thanks for the idea, @dedtired!...See Morenosoccermom
