I just want to thank you all for everything. My hubby is the cook in our family. This design is with him in mind. Since he liked the sample I showed him, I didnt want to let him down or at least find a comparable option. This project was becoming so overwhelming. Not be able to find such a key piece of my design plan, my family and friends were about to abandon me because this is all I talked about. Everyone's answers were its no big deal its just the counter top. That was making me even more nervous and sad. I really appreciate everything. Again, thank you all.

So hard to decide. I love MP. I have MP. I love LdL too, but for me it seemed too cold and modern. I wanted a modern farmhouse vibe, so I needed more warmth which MP provided. I actually did walnut perimeter cabinets and painted island( a flip flop to your plan) which made it easier I think. The MP looks stellar on the walnut cabinets and on the painted(olive) island cabinetry, but IMO walnut countertop wouldn't look good on walnut cabinets so if I had down a walnut cabinetry island I wouldn't have considered wood there. I think that means I don't like your option 1 with the smaller island with wood cabinets and wood countertop-sorry) My original plan was MP on perimeter and walnut bb on island, but because I also have post and beam structural elements it seemed like too much going on so I simplified and went with a single countertop surface, all MP. I am quite happy with that choice- ecstatic actually. You are trying to make a lot of choices and thinking about alot of scenarios. I can tell you what I would do, but it might be better to figure out which stone you love and then, as Tim Gunn says, "Make it work" even if that means re-jiggering some of your other ideas. If you consider all your elements and potential elements and then figure out what you must have then you will know what to do or at least where to start. Now to add to the confusion, some things that popped into my head: Stainless backsplash behind stove would also look great. Where you have stainless countertop next to oven, you could alternatively do walnut butcherblock with embedded stainless steel heat bars. This would put the walnut on the white cabinetry which I think would look lovely. The island eating area and the eating area behind the sink could be butcherblock and everything else could be stone. Definitely go look at more quartz options to go with the MP. Think about which of the tones in the MP you would want to bring out, there is gray green gold, mine has purple streaks too. Would the Pebble go with the MP?

Steer clear of ColorQuartz. I bought five slabs of Akoya Pearl Quartz from International Granite and Marble (IGM). This quartz is made by ColorQuartz. Their sample was incredibly beautiful. It looked like real stone. It was to be delivered and installed while I was gone, therefore I asked IGM if I should come and approve the slabs before I left. They said no, because it was man-made, they would all look like the sample. They delivered and installed while I was gone. The material that was installed was of incredibly poor quality. It has little specks all over it. It looks like it is covered in freckles or made of tapioca. I called IGM and complained. They came to my home and looked at it and agreed with me. They said it would be up to ColorQuartz to refund my money or replace it. I called the local ColorQuartz rep. He said it was awful that the quartz looked so bad. He said he would do something that day or the next. He did not. I then called and complained to the ColorQuartz VP of Sales. He literally told me he didn't care. Repeatedly, he just said, "I don't care". I never heard of any sales person ever before say such a thing. IGM is no longer returning my calls, so I am not too pleased with them either. If they are a good company, they will drop ColorQuartz. I paid $6121.61 for those slabs. I am attaching photos. The one on the right is the actual, the one on the left is the sample.

I have MOP in my shower, on the bench face. We used quartz color grout for everything and it looks fine. I didn't want a stark white grout with the surrounding tile being Torreon travertine. It blends well. If I had it to do over though, I would do bone grout on the honed travertine and white on the MOP tile. I still may try to go over the MOP with a layer of white, just to brighten it up a bit. I've taken photos but it just doesn't do justice to what it looks like in person. But I'll try to upload some for you later.
