I have 2 old steel gazebo frames that the coverings have rotted off. I'm not buying anymore coverings because in FL they mold and rot too fast in the sun & salt air. The lattice idea sounds really nice! The vinyl type (plastic?) would be lightweight and easy to wire onto the frames..heck, I could even zip tie it lol. Good ideas you guys. One is 12x14 and the other is 10x12, I think. I am thinking of putting a jacuzzi in the larger one. I could put lattice and fairy lights on it. Then grow moonvines on it that would be fragrant and open at night! I think some white butterfly ginger would be nice and fragrant at the doorways. I have Night Blooming Jasmine and Indian Night Jasmine. Also some Sambac jasmine varieties. Maybe some climbing roses too. Still thinking of ideas for the other one (10x12) I also have 2 old 10x20 steel carport frames, like the kind you buy at Home Depot or Lowes etc. No more coverings on those either. I used to use them for greenhouses (wrap plastic over them). Now I'm dreaming up other ideas since we are finally building a proper greenhouse lol.

Just a few ideas. It sounds like more of a terrarium than a greenhouse. Even with succulents, you should consider thoroughly waterproofing all of the wood, as well as any metal that is susceptible to rust. If you are planning on leaving it in the sun, it will get too hot for even cacti without some shading. You would probably need a small fan of some sort to add air circulation. If the electric light will be exposed to water or even high humidity, it should be one designed for those conditions. Also, if the ballast for the florescent light will be inside the structure, it will make the inside even hotter.

I had a cheap secretary office chair. Its back became useless and the back support failed, In preparation to discard it, I took the back off and inspiration hit. The low seat with casters was perfect as a roll around seat on the garage floor when servicing equipment such as lawn mowers, bicycles, and autos. It beats stooping over to get at low places like waxing the lower panels of a car. We recycle dozens of 64 fluid oz plastic bottles, but a few have been put to other uses. Using shears, I cut the bottom off and gave the end a scoop shape. The handle and lid was left in place. It made a good bird seed scoop. There were some scraps of lumber left over from building our house. Some measurements, a few hand saw cuts, and nailing the parts together gave me a nail carrier. I've been using that thing for 40 years. Other scraps were used to make 3 shelves for the back of the garage. Asphalt sealer comes in large plastic buckets. About every 5 to 7 years, my driveway gets a coat of sealer. Not all of the buckets were discarded. I kept about 10 of these and those come in handy for a variety of chores. If I need a ballast weight to hold me lawn mower handle down to tip the mower up for removing the blade, I grab a bucket, go out back and put in a few rocks from the rock pile and now I have a ballast weight to do the job. Other buckets can store sun flower seed after the sack has been opened. Setting the lid on the bucket makes a mouse and insect proof container.

That is pretty great! Talk to your builder about how to get it inside and make sure they protect it while work is going on around it. I'd clearcoat it with polyurethane or something like that to keep the splinters down--if you don't like the weathered look, just get something new. :) For backing, I'd probably tack on some luaun painted an interesting color. But if it's flat enough, you can just stick it to the wall and ignore any small gaps. For inspiration (on a smaller scale of course!) look at what people have done with IKEA's "Expedit".
