Bosch 36 Inch Built-In Refrigerator
Comments (10)We've been looking at the 36" Thermador/Bosch (French door versions) as well as the Liebherr. (Meile doesn't have an FD model yet, plus the wifi on a fridge seems stupid to us, even though we work for an internet company. Gaggenau, well, same thing with more stainless and more $$.) I think the Therm/bosch have motorized shelves too. The Therm/Bosch seems a little more solid than the Liebherr--the doors work better--but they seem similar on usable space to the Liebherr. We like the LOOKS of the double freezer drawer on Liebherr better but I suppose a cabinet guy could fake that look on the Therm/Bosch. We liked the Bosch interior better than the Therm, but neither of us can remember why. Probably the fewer $$. :) If you're in the CA bay area, I know of at least one dealer with all 4 bosch lookalikes, with the Thermador and bosch side-by-side. Very helpful to sell the Bosch! The spouse preferred the door storage on the Liebherr, but I think relearning where you put things will take care of that sort of issue....See MoreBosch Integra built in refrigerator - anyone have one?
Comments (4)Lower price would be nice but the dealer never moves on display pricing or sell for 1/2 off the regular sell price. They usually sell very fast since there are really only two places to get higher end appliances. I see talk about the line being discontinued but I thought just the door was changed from single to french? Since Bosch owns the factory I have a hard time seeing this be a problem even if it happens since Thermador and Gaggenau are almost the exact same unit. It will come with a 5 year warranty from the dealer. As far as quality the boss also thought the Bosch blew the leibherr away. I cannot comment on mechanical components but everything else looks feels like a different class. The Bosch is coming home....See MoreGE Cafe vs. Bosch Benchmark Wall Oven
Comments (21)Disclosure: I am a grandmother, consumer, non-techie, and considering a move into the Consumer Advocate arena. The sections of this post include: - About Bosch Benchmark - GE Ovens - How Swing Effects Roasted/Baked Food - How to Estimate Your Oven’s Swing (aka variance or range) About Bosch Benchmark I am in the process of replacing my second Bosch Benchmark double wall oven. The top ovens had a swing of 93* and 73*, respectfully. The first oven performed beautifully for 6 months, the second for a few weeks. Faulty electronics were evident in my experience. Note: the first oven was version /01 (installed 12/15) the second version /04 (installed 2/2018). Bosch uses average temperature to determine if an oven operates within spec. Within 28 months, my ovens were operable for 9 months, inoperable for 19 months. **How many households with kids could keep their family on track with inoperable ovens?** Bosch, on their part, offered me a buyback this month. But it took a tremendous amount time and bird-dogging on my part. GE Ovens GE states on their website the acceptable swing is +/- 30* using a 350* temperature setting. Hence, your oven meets spec if it’s temperature ranges from 320* to 380* within a 20 minute cycle time. (Check out the GE Appliances site and search for ‘oven temperature variance.’) How Swing Effects Roasted/Baked Food Here are a few examples of how a high oven temperature swing effects food roasted/baked from tried-and-true recipes: - prime rib (shooting for MR) is well on the outside, bloody red around the bone - a tried and true family fruit cake recipe, baked for at least 70 years on all types of ovens, took much longer to bake, passed the tooth pick test, was sticky on the top center, and crumbled when sliced - a chicken and rice casserole never got done; I used the rice cooker to finish cooking the rice and the chicken was too tough to eat - two cake mix cakes, in which I adhered *exactly* to all directions, were baked using the shortest time indicated; they were full of tunnels, extremely dry, and tasteless How To Estimate Your Oven’s Swing 1. Position an oven thermometer in the center of the oven. (Cooks Illustrated recommends a CDN Oven Thermometer... of course Amazon has them.) - - - do not open the oven door until the test finishes - - - 2. Set your oven to 350*, and let it heat up for an hour. 3. Choose a start time. 4. Every 5 minutes (4 times in 20 minutes) note or take a pix of the oven thermometer. 5. The highest and lowest temperatures registered represent the oven swing. Note: technicians use a special tool to measure oven swing that is much more accurate. Phew! Time to return to my research!...See MoreBosch 800 36” vs Liebherr 36” refrigerator
Comments (1)I had a Liebherr refrigerator I really liked. It was a 36" French door with two freezer drawers. Early on there were a couple of problems with the ice maker but after those repairs, and me being more careful not to load the freezer in a way that might damage the ice maker parts, it performed beautifully. I liked the small ice cubes but it makes ice slowly. it was not a problem for me but if you consume a lot of ice you may want a non-German refrigerator. I am considering getting a Bosch because I cannot afford a Liebherr this time around... Good luck!...See MoreJakvis
