Need advice on Can Lighting Placement
Comments (11)Jon1270 - This is awesome! Thank you so much. This is closer to what we had expected. First, the position of the cans at the counter edge, then the placement at the peninsula. I felt the cans should surround the sink, your suggestion does just that. We already have undercounter lighting at the places you recommend, in addition to the upper displays - the one forgotten one was the light in the niche over the range. We had an electrical run for it, but forgot to order a light for it so will do that as well. And yes, we were very uncertain about placing a can above the range. We have quite the powerful lighting in our range hood already plus an ambient light bar there as well. It seemed to be overkill, plus the range hood sticks out as far as the range. We're considering a hanging light over the island that is about 28x28 - do you think this is too large/small and regardless still in need of cans flanking either side of the light? Also, do you think having no cans between the island and the peninsula will leave 'dark holes'? It is about 8ft from the center measure of the island to the center of the peninsula. I think the lighting specialist we visited with (who actually visited us) was trying to keep the lights symmetrically in line. And while we are symmetrical with lots of what we do, the suggestions just didn't feel right for us. Yours do. Thank you again....See Morehave to redo placement of recessed cans-need advice
Comments (0)We originally put in recessed lights in the aisles, but now that the cabinets have been installed, we are wondering whether we should move them. We also are not sure where to put the light fixture over the island or whether to combine it with recessed cans too? The layout of cabinets is shown below. At the bottom right of the picture, there is a beam that holds up the supporting wall that we got rid of, so it separates the actual kitchen from the dinette. We will have undercabinet lighting. Right now, the recessed lights are approximately 3 feet away from the top wall and bottom wall shown in the picture. I think they look odd since the lights are neither centred over the wood canopy nor over the cabinets to the left and right of it. Please help me with the placement of these lights while my plaster/drywall guy is still here so that he can patch up any holes in the ceiling....See MoreI need help with the amount, placement and type of kitchen light.
Comments (2)Just a comment that has nothing to do with the lighting, but I would seriously consider switching your fridge and your oven. Why? Because when we cook, we first take food out of the fridge, bring it to the sink to prep, prep between the sink and the cooktop and then cook at the cooktop or put things in the oven. You'll have a better flow if you work in that direction of cooking without having to continually run back and forth between zones. Also make sure to put your dishwasher to the left of the sink so it's out of the prepping zone....See MoreBeginner needs any advice on light placement in kitchen/living room
Comments (4)OH BOY! well, the dining fixture looks right lol. Im not sure you need penants over that peninsula I dont know why you would want to light up the top of the tv area? I dont know why you would want to light up just behind the sofa area? And Im not sure why you have all these LED strips? Not sure why you would put lights in the beam? you need to have an electrician and a consultant look at this space, so you can get a real plan together. I do not know all the constraints but you would have the most uneven hot spot, shadow making lighting here. How tall are the ceilings? This is not a complex space, nor is it very large, the space in your 3D image appears much smaller than your floor plan. Also, no ones has the coffee table that far from the sofa so I am just not sure you need all the decorative lights you have suggested....See More- 5 years ago
