Love those sponges on wands, but....
Comments (8)Good to clarify. I thought you were talking about the Chlorox toilet bowl wand, which I love! My MIL has what you describe, and hers leaks too. She keeps it in a ceramic jar on her countertop. I doubt if they were designed to be well sealed enough to store in tilt outs, but I could be wrong. I had a liquid soap dispenser (Franke) installed in our sink when we redid the kitchen. I use super concentrated soap and a normal dish brush (wooden handle, natural bristles) and a drop of the liquid - it really does the job and when done, I store the brush and my sponges in my tilt out drawer. Personally, I found the other kinds you describe to be too much hassle. L...See MoreTilt out sponge drawer?
Comments (26)Hi everyone this is a really old post but with a ton of tilt out lovers so wanted to ask if anyone can share a SIDE picture of theirs? I'm curious to see if they all tilt out or if they sit completely flush with the other cabinets. I want to include on in my new kitchen but everyone keeps advising me against it for it doesn't sit flush, they aren't used much anymore, etc. I use ours a LOT (we don't put wet items in there so no issues) and I cannot imagine being without it. Thanks...See MoreRev-a-shelf Tilt-out sink drawers
Comments (14)> Where can you buy these things? Lowes stocks them. I always use these. One tip - install the hinges and have your countertop, sink, and the lower doors of the cabinet in place before installing the tray(s) themselves. And then position the trays as low as possble without hitting a cabinet frame support underneath. That way you'll get the most usuable room inside - room to store small sponges on their side for example, and more likelihood things will fit in the first place. My last installer placed them too high, and besides limiting the available height of items placed in the tray, also the top of the cabinet front won't quite close all the wall because the top of the tray sides scrapes the countertop support that frames the top front of the cabinet. I'm going to need to lower the tray about an inch. For the neatest installation, install the cabinet pull(s) first and counter-sink the screw, then uses screws to hold the tray onto the inside of the door afterward, usually covering the cabinet pull screw(s). Dont drill a hole through the tilt-out tray to mount the knobs or handles - it doesn't look good from inside and precludes adjusting the position of the tray if necessary....See MoreKitchen sink tilt drawer for sponges?
Comments (63)"In my last house, the sink was too close to the edge for a functional flip out like that. I never found a suitable alternative for storing the stopper for the garbage disposal, or my scrub brushes. The under-cabinet caddy ended up a mess, turned over, or shoved into the abyss of the cabinet. Suction cups to hold it didn’t work either. So, what do the rest of you do with that stuff, even if you don’t love sponges?" There are some nice ideas above with custom drawers under the sink, etc. After measuring carefully, I used plastic drawers to organize under the sink. I use both individual drawers that can stack, as well as 3-drawer unit that fit perfectly under the sink. They hold and organize my DW pods, sponges, scouring pads, toothbrush for cleaning, microfiber cloths, produce brushes, etc. One of the drawers also has small,, square containers inside to sort smaller items. I keep the cover for the garbage disposal and a few other dry items in my tilt out....See MoreJerri Blank
