Get yourself some teeth, they're not that expensive. Why deny yourself?

I have sensitive teeth. I could not eat bread if I didn't brush with Sensodyne daily. No way EVER would I attempt to whiten my teeth. I asked the dentist if my gut was correct on this--stripping your teeth will make sensitivity more sensitive. He concurred.

Don't brush your teeth before putting on the white strips - owee. The first strip always is a little tingly for me, but after that I feel no discomfort.

Elmer, I think he just meant that he doesn't have his real teeth, I'm going to assume he already has some dentures but dentures don't have to be whitened and aren't sensitive...

Especially(mainly?) when one lives a few kilometres from a dental school (and my south-Asian student's supervisor agreed with me that she had gentle hands).

One day when I'd had five teeth in a quadrant removed and supervisor said, "$32. for the first and $16. for the rest", and I said "96", when they'd figured the amount and asked how I'd figured it so quickly, I said that four times 16 equals 2 times 32, that 3 times 30 is 90 and 3 times 2 adds 6 to the 90 = 96.

Five teeth out - under a hundred bucks ... granted, about 8 years ago.

sammy -- what she said ;). You can also put extra Sensodyne on your DRY toothbrush and you can, after brushing gently, leave the S'dyne on your teeth for a few minutes. There's no rush to remove it.

Another good product (I've used it for many years) is Colgate Previ-Dent. It remineralizes the enamel (there is some ion exchange that goes one). The enamel gets "harder" (stronger). You must use it daily/or nightly. I grew up drinking un-fluoridated water, unfortunately. But with daily flossing, rinsing (privately swishing) after meals, using a good toothbrush (Oral-B is better than the "ultrasonic" brand, IMO) with a light touch and 3 seconds per surface (buccal and lingual -- no need to brush the chewing surface), I have greatly reduced cavities and my dental bills. I also pay extra (no insurance, cash) for a good prosthodontist (Spelling off?) who is picky nit picky :-)

I had my teeth whitened many years ago. Whew! They got so very sensitive. I' like to lighten them again, but cannot afford to. So please let us know how your strips or gels work. As most people age, apparently they get long in the tooth as well as dark. Thinner enamel with the darker dentin showing through.)

OJ, that is my method of dealing with math, too!! My husband always gives me that "you are an idiot" look, but cannot deny that I get the correct answer (and usually faster than he does, nyuk,nyuk!).

Elmer, again, you are an ass. What might not be exspensive for you, might be prohibitive for others.

I have very sensitive teeth and my dentist just told me the other day that when I’m done brushing with Sensodyne, not to do a last rinse. Alternatively, you could rinse, and then rub a little Sensodyne where you’re sensitive. Give that a try for a while before attempting to whiten again. If you still are too sensitive, you may need to give it up or ask your dentist for another option.

Another vote for Sensodyne. Whitening doesn't bother my teeth (I've used both the strips and had the whitening treatment done by a dentist in Thailand and wasn't sensitive to either), but I've had sensitive spots before (cold water had me hanging from the ceiling) and Sensodyne really helped.
