Anyone own a Lee industries sofa?
Comments (22)Prettybutton, that is exactly what I was able to do. The bench I ordered was not carried by Crate. But I have such a good salesman there he knows the folks at Lee, called them and ordered the bench for me (and said he could order anything from them as they are a major vendor) and gave me the sale price on it and also on the customizations I wanted -- castors and nailhead trim. Those weren't on the bench originally so first step was to see if they were possible and then to order them up. At one point I wanted to change the leg style and he called about that as well (I couldn't). It's a pleasure. Obviously, special orders aren't going to be returnable but I know the Lee quality and it's a copy of a bench that's 6 times as expensive. I used the extra fabric he ordered for me when I bought my sofa. I could have gone with one of their leathers (also 25% off) or another fabric. Last year at this time I took advantage of the same sale (mid Sept-mid Oct) to order a sofa and chair. If I need upholstered things I spend time figuring out what I need and wait for this so I can get the customizing at 25% off. I have access to the wholesale market as well and have gone through the showrooms. To order a sofa from one of the Brand names would have doubled the cost and I honestly couldn't see double the quality. Custom is also available here and, of course, if you're going with that from a high end upholsterer it's a whole different game. But again, I just cannot see spending thousands on upholstered furniture which basically depreciates to the Craigslist level the day it's delivered. But that's me and others may not agree. Don't know if every Crate store or salesperson can offers this level of knowledge or service but it's worth a visit if that's possible....See MoreAdvice re: Lee fabric choice & 'green' fabric
Comments (3)My concern about polyester is the off-gassing, the new furniture smell, that essentially is the chemicals releasing from the material. I know that the actual heath effects of this is somewhat controversial and I'm not totally convinced myself but I'd prefer to find a fabric that has minimal off-gassing. Polyester is notorious for off-gassing. That's why I was hoping to find a fabric that would clean easily with children and pets but that would have some kind of "green" certification. That was how I discovered Sunbrella which is acrylic (so synthetic) and incredibly durable but does not impact indoor air quality like other materials. Does anyone know why Lee's Sunbrella options are so limited? The cotton is brown and beige so I think it will hide dirt. I can't do leather because my cat is not declawed. :)...See MoreDrexel Heritage quality problem
Comments (1)We ordered many pieces of furniture from Drexel Heritage right here in NC the last week of April. After we paid 40% down, the furniture was to have been ordered, manufactured, and delivered ... or so we thought! To our shock and disappointment, one of the expensive pieces we ordered was going to take over 5 MONTHS for us to receive .. was actually to be manufactured in CHINA and could not be shipped from China until a complete container shipping hold was filled by the Chinese company, therefore holding our piece up!! We have cancelled our entire order and are being refunded our complete 40% deposit. We do not recommend purchase of any custom goods from DH. Buy from the Outlet that carries DH goods and take it home with you that day....See MoreLee Industries Sofa - Quality Concern
Comments (4)I took delivery of a Lee Industries sofa and love seat a few months ago, these came directly from Lee, not C&B, if that makes a difference. My pieces/frames seem rock solid. No creaks etc. I didn't perform any "tests" on them, but my furniture store does their own quality checks before delivery and they said they rarely have issues with Lee and have sold hundreds & hundreds of them. That said, I did an issue with the seat and back cushions being under-stuffed. However, between the excellent customer service my furniture store provides, and the apparent willingness of Lee to stand behind their product, we are well on our way to a resolution. Although I was disappointed that there was an issue, I am still very happy with my sofas! They are the most comfortable I've ever owned....See MoreSammy
