Start with the hardwood floors so you know what color you're working with. Update your light near the door and change the fan to a new chandelier. Then think about what colors you are drawn to, that coordinate with the rest of your home. Choose your furniture and rug before you decide on wall color. I'd look for a bed with a tall headboard that doesn't require a bedskirt.

We visited Portugal in 2019 with another couple. The couple has now sold their house, will retire later this month and make the move to Portugal in January. They have been our inspiration! We went back to Portugal in September and now plan to rent an AirBNB in Cascais for February and March next year. We're taking baby steps. We'll be living and working there to test the waters. How big is the window?..do you need the blinds AND the curtains?..what direction does the window face?..is privacy an issue?..i always like sheers in this type of situation…they add softness …especially in a bedroom…but will push to the side completely when you want the view or light..lastly shades that pull up from the bottom…will allow a fuller view while also offering only the amount of privacy needed at any given time
