I have a different brand of aluminum frame greenhouse, but the design is similar to the HF GH. Mine came with flat aluminum struts that were about 3/4" wide about 6' long, and they are screwed to the inside of the frame to provide additional bracing. There are two in each corner and each pair runs diagonally from the upper corner to the base (they basically each span one corner window panel diagonally on the two walls that form the corner). There are also 4 of these struts that run diagonally to brace the roof. Because they are installed diagonally they provide incredible stiffening. My greenhouse just survived a 70mph freak storm with no problem. Below is a link that diagrams how these reinforcements are placed. I would think it would be relatively easy to get some aluminum stock and cut your own reinforcing struts. It could be relatively light gauge because it is not supporting a load, but simply providing tension to the structure. This might even be easier than trying to build a bulky wood frame to reinforce your HF GH, and this approach doesn't take up any room. Here is a link that might be useful:

Good, glad that helped! This section of my blog shows how we screwed in our panels, and what type of screws we used. We bought ours at Lowes. Adding the Panels If you live in a windy area, as I do, I'd strongly recommend screwing in the panels as you go...in other words, I'd recommend against tempting fate by planning on doing it later, especially since you don't have your extra clips yet. I've read too many scary stories here about lost panels (and wrecked frames) when the panels are just installed as per the kits. You might want to read my blog from start to finish...or at least skim it...I tried to combine many of the helpful tips offered by many Harbor Freight owners here at GardenWeb (who are a super group of folks, as you can tell!) Hopefully you'll find some helpful info, even though mine is the 10x12. When it comes to the reinforcements, the small difference in greenhouse size shouldn't make any difference. Good luck!

Hi again,,,well, We decided to buy a different greenhouse instead of messing with the hfgh,,,I decided it was not going to be big enough. We purchased a 17 x 32 gothic style greenhouse from Griffins. I have had 2 of their models in the past when I had a greenhouse business. I had the 17x48, 2 of them. I don't need one that big, so I went with the smaller one this time. I am going to sell plants on the weekends. I have thousands of seeds started right now in the basement under growlights.

Hi Dax! I *just* found this thread (after reading a bazillion others, *and* starting a new one - my bad!!!). Awesome pics - Thanx! I'm printing and hanging onto 'em for when (okay - still "IF") I buy my 6x8! Question: Is all of your construction SOLELY based on what's in the destructions - err - instructions that came w/the 6x8? Or did you do any add'l "beefing up?" (other than the extra T-Bolts) Your GH location looks pretty "protected" - so I'm guessing wind probably isn't a huge concern. But I'm still wondering if there's "additional" stuff (above and beyond what HF supplies w/the GH) that I need to concern myself with... How's your GH holding up?
