Comments (9)I agree with Jan, no need to rush into painting. I think that only works for people who move from one house to another which is similar to the first and already know what works for them. Unless you want to pay twice or live with something not well thought out it is better to wait. This house looks like it has great potential, but is a bit of a fixer upper. Think through everything that will need to be done. Make a list, put everything on the list in a logical order and starting working through the items. If you need help beyond the well intentioned suggestions of strangers on this forum, get help. I will say that I think the fact that the foyer faces north is less important than it would be for another room. People pass through foyers quickly. Some colors do die in northern light, but the blue there now actually seems like not a bad choice. The foyer is the introduction to your home. It actually may be a good idea to paint it last. You may find that whichever color you choose for the living room will work there as well. If you don't love the wallpaper, remove it. It's not a fun job, but you shouldn't let it drive color choices if it wouldn't have been your choice. Same with the marble on the floor. That's a pretty small area, so it wouldn't cost that much to change it....See MoreTeri Ziegler
