Closet room/dressing room/boudoir

I have a spare bedroom is like to utilize as a dressing room But also a place I can sit and relax. Right now I’m using the closet in the room as an actual closet, 2 billy bookcases for shoes, and I’ve got an ikea tarva dresser. I have a vanity that isn’t in the photos yet, and a full length mirror. I’m looking to add a rug (not sure of the right size) and also some sort of ottoman and/or chair solution so that o have a place to sit. Looking for advice on furniture arrangement, what furniture to get for seating, and also rug size. The rug I like it available in 5x7 and 7x10.

Sweet set up! What are the dimensions of the room? That will help people figure out the best rug size for it. Can we get a layout? Have you thought of window treatments? (Wondering about the effect of the sun on your clothes and shoes. And also, you'll be needing privacy.) Budget? That will help with seating suggestions. Can we see the vanity?

For a little while, I used a spare bedroom as my dressing room and my favourite part was the three-sided mirror.

What a fun room to furnish and decorate!

you could do a island in the middle with drawers for sweaters and jewelry.

I love the idea of having a wic with a door from the Master Bath. In fact as I was drawing the plans for our house (that is currently being built) this was a feature I considered a "must have". DH and I are rarely on the same schedule and I think it will be great! DH is a night owl and I am a morning person. So he can get completely ready for bed without having to disturb me going in and out of the room/bathroom. And in the morning I can get up go into the bathroom and not have to go back into the bedroom except to leave after I am completely ready. I'm really looking forward to this feature of our new house!!

I love the glass door cabinets and think how much less dusting you will do. I like that warm soft taupe looking color I think it will not distract from color choices if you keep it quite light. Make sure your lighting is LED 4000K so the colors stay true at night. I will say though I do not like shoes over my head since they are never really clean on the bottom, I started storing mine is clear boxes in a rack that fits on a wall but is just 48” tall

I would need to see a better close up of the rug that is staying, but to give you an idea of updates that would help. Paint in the lighter blue color, or the ivory, cabinets, walls and ceiling. You can leave the center ones darker, and if that blue matches the one in the rug, then that works. For the backs of the cabinets, put a nice ivory/light blue damask wallpaper that matches the cabinet paint color and ivory in the room and rugs. Replace the mirror with one like pictured below. Update all the pulls with crystal ones like pictured here. Update the lamp to a crystal one, and replace the fan with a crystal chandlier. For the window there are some beige honeycomb Levolar blinds, but I removed them temporarily for the painters. The vanity is green but I will either paint or replace because I want to go for all gray/white/pink

Nice rug!! Any way you can provide a layout of the room with the dimensions of everything so people can help you with the rug size and furniture arrangement? Will you have room for everything including the clothing rack?

Hope you are getting rid of the Ikea pieces they do not work with the rest of the space. Maybe get a custom insert built for there. As for the rest drapes on the window to give it a nice luxe feel choises always look good but really not great for reding or putting on shoes. As for a rug get what you love and then choose funiture That closet space with some good lighting would be a great make up area.

Patricia, why do you say the IKEA pieces don't work with "the rest of the space"? What rest of the space? It's a room. The Ikea pieces fit. OP can paint the dresser if she's inclined - the Tarva is a blank slate. There is absolutely nothing wrong with those IKEA pieces if they serve their purpose in her room. You suggest a custom insert when we've no clue of her budget. She asked for help laying out the furniture and help finding seating options.

Yes the plan is to paint the tarva white and replace the knobs with gold or copper
