NAET and/or air purifiers for asthma & allergy
Comments (3)I've heard of NAET, and can find no studies (clinical, double-blind kind) that show it is any better than sacrificing black chickens. It only works if you believe it does, which is not science. Considering that ozone is a well-known respiratory irritant, one would think that something that generates it would be the last thing you want in your house. Both ionizing purifiers and ozone generators can pollute your house to well above the level that would have a city calling a bad air day. We're down to environmental controls - the usual routine of removing dust trap surfaces, decluttering, using HEPA filters when you vacuum, and using really good air filters in your HVAC system. Start with the cheapest remedies and continue until you feel better. Have a friend come in to do the dusty part of a thorough cleaning, and leave you to maintain them Also, consider using one of the allergy suppressants, such as Claritin, because if you keep the symptoms down you will have fewer problems with the asthma....See MoreH.o.r.r.i.b.l.e. allergies
Comments (5)Oh I do feel for you. I was in the same boat. Suffered with it for decades. I'm 51 and went to the allergist almost 3 years ago. I have sneezed as soon as I wake up in the morning for as long as I can remember. Even as a kid. The older I got the worse it got. I was EATING nasal decongestant pills, and using the OTC nasal sprays like crazy. They made my blood pressure go up. Went to the allergist finally. Got all the tests on both arms and my shoulders, I swear it wasn't bad. I'm allergic to almost everything that grows outside, dogs, cats, dust mites, pollen, yada, yada. I started getting allergy shots. 3 shots twice a week. I have 3 different bottles of serum they use. They started combining 2 of them so I would only get one shot in each arm at ea. appt. I'm finally down to going once a month. I take Allegra and use Rhinocort and Azelastine nasal sprays. This combination works for me. I go MONTHS without sneezing now. It's truly amazing. I also use a nasal salt water rinse, truly a miracle that salt water! She told me to close the windows, get rid of the carpet get rid of the dog. I did 2 out of 3, can't get rid of my old man of a dog, he's 15 1/2 now, he'll be gone soon enough. Make sure when you use the sinus rinse you use the packets of salt for it and also use distilled water, and heat it up some, but not so much it burns. Oh, and when the sinus headaches get bad, heat up a gel mask in the microwave and put it on your forehead and just under your eyes. If you don't have a mask, get a washcloth wet then heat it in the microwave. Good luck, hope you feel better. Here is a link that might be useful: what I use...See MoreInfinity Air Purifier
Comments (0)Hello, I have an Infinity Air Purifier 1625 which was installed along with a new Carrier infinity system about two years ago. I had heard great things about the air purifier both on-line and from relatives who have one. Our daughter has allergies and I was hoping it would help. However, in the two years it has been operating, I have seen absolutely no difference, either in the amount of dust or in my daughter's allergies or the overall air quality in the house. The blue light comes on when it is supposed to - when there is air flow, and there is dust on the wires, but it is not powdery. Are there any troubleshooting ideas out there? It just doesn't seem like the thing is working. (I am an electronics technician). Thanks! Ed...See Morelooking for air purifier for master bedroom & another for our kitchen
Comments (3)I've never known any of these to be life changing among clients who have them. Your best defense is a super clean home. A very good hepa filter vacuum used frequently on floors, rugs, ( limit the rugs) upholstery, and curtains, along with a magnetic dust rag...... more frequent changes of bed linens. All will help and are a better defense against allergies. That, combined with a frequent change of filter in furnaces and air conditioners! A good airing out with open windows when cleaning ( except during high pollen count mos ) also helps....See Moremorz8 - Washington Coast
