Interesting, why would someone's transgender status need to be mentioned on a cooking show? Isn't just a fact of their life, like, I dunno, eye color, and doesn't have a bearing on their cooking ability? I imagine it's a difficult life to lead, so maybe it is necessary to mention to help the rest of us become more familiar with it and not view it as outside the mainstream. But without watching the show mentioned, I'm curious how it comes up. What's GWTW? First a disclaimer: I am a fan of the Simpson's. I know many are put off by the humor but I find *most* of it clever and funny. Even though I still enjoy that show, I am more and more disturbed by much of what I find on tv. I guess I've become more prudish or something but I just don't see the need for so much sex talk and drug use references and crudeness. Of course, I have the option, which I exercise, to change the channel or turn the tv off. But why is it necessary on show after show after show? When is Downton Abbey coming back?! I'll finally have something, besides the Simpson's, that I enjoy. Somewhat related to crudeness on tv: can someone tell me why in every pix I see of Miley Cyrus, she's sticking out her tongue? Is that suppose to be sexy? Funny? I don't understand why an attractive young woman would make such an unattractive face, over and over again.

Bread and Butter Pudding would be the perfect way to use up your bread. I've substitute , Gingerbread cake and before in my recipe for bread pudding Home Cookin Chapter: Recipes From Thibeault's Table Bread And Butter Pudding With Caramel Sauce =========================================== 5 or 6 slices of bread 1/2 cup butter 1 to 1 1/2 cups sugar 5 eggs 2 cups cream (Or milk) vanilla pinch of salt Caramel Sauce 1 cup butter 1 cup sugar 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup cream pinch of salt 2 teaspoons vanilla NOTE: If you prefer the pudding to have more custard, then use less bread so that all of the custard is not absorbed into the bread when baked. . Cut crusts from bread and spread each slice with butter. (Bread slices can be left whole, or cut into halves, quarters or cubes. Place bread butterd side up in a oven proof dish. (may use any shape dish, or glass loaf pan, cutting bread to fit) Beat the sugar and eggs together and then add the cream, vanilla and salt. Pour over bread and allow the bread to absorb. (make be refrigerated at this point and baked later) sprinkle with some white sugar and place dish into a pan of hot water and bake in a 350 oven for 45 to 1 hour, or until pudding is set and golden. To make caramel sauce, bring butter, sugars, cream and salt to a boil and then simmer for 3 or 4 minutes. Remove from heat and add the vanilla. Custard sauce for Chocolate Bread and butter Pudding. The custard sauce was really easy. It was just two cups of milk or cream ( I used coffee cream) heated to a simmer. Mix three tablespoons of flour into 1/2 cup of white sugar and mix into a beaten egg. When the milk is hot, slowly pour the milk into the egg mixture,stirring constantly. Pour the mixture back into the pot and cook over low heat until thickened. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla. Custard should be pouring consistency. Cover the surface directly with plastic wrap and refrigerate.

I got this one: Nesco Roaster Oops - Just checked - cheaper on Amazon - $67.20 and free shipping Love mine; don't have anything to compare it to. My DIL used an older Nesco that her mom had picked up at a thrift store and I knew I wanted one like it. It seems just like the older one - not really sure. When researching, I read that Nesco was the original maker of these type of roasters, so that is why I went with it. Mine will hold up to a 22 pound turkey. If you get one, make sure you follow the directions to "cure" it on high heat for about an hour before using the first time. I think it is aluminum.

I have a recipe for yeast rolls that use pumpkin or squash puree, along with whole wheat flour, the kids love them. I've had pumpkin ravioli in a sage and browned butter sauce, it was really good. If you don't want to make your own pasta you can use wonton wrappers. I've added pumpkin to hummus and it was pretty good too. I've stirred pureed pumpkin or squash into chili and lentil soup, but if your chili packs a punch at all, you won't taste it in there.
