Your bacterial garden and your sourdough bread . . .

So we're home alone this Thanksgiving because my husband is recuperating from hip replacement surgery and he can't sit much or sleep well, so travel was out of the question for us. So I've spent a fair amount of time online researching some recipes, and I came across this fascinating article about Rob Dunn, who has just written a book on the microbes in your life. I heard them interviewing him on NPR last week. The article is all about how sourdough bakers end up having a personal bacterial environment that is influenced by their breads. Microbiologist Dunn has written a lot about how we are changing our environment in all kinds of unseen ways.
