I'm not a lighting expert, just an regular guy who has barely finished their 1st kitchen remodel. I swear I almost did the exact same thing as you with the T4s. I realized it at the very last moment and got T5s instead. Since then I've read other posts which indicate that T2s might be an even better, slimmer choice. I don't favor option 1; I worry that it won't give you the proper task lighting you want where you want it. If your cabinets are a good 18" over your counters (so your lights won't get in the way) and it won't bother you that they hang down and are visible, you can go with option 2. While I probably don't qualify as "TKO" as they say here, it would bother me - both because of looks and because I would want the extra clearance for when I haul out my larger kitchen appliances. So if it was me, and I had it in the budget, I would send the T4's back and get T5s or T2s.

I was rather intrigued by the concept of outlet stripes, I have to say. :-) Search the forum for "angled plugmold" and you will find a wealth of information and pictures of this very stuff. One source is Task Lighting online. But it's pricey. If your carpenter is good, he can simply make you an angled piece of wood that matches the cabinetry, and the electrician can install regular plugmold on that. Undercabinet LED lighting is a great DIY project... Here's what I did. Works out to about $5/ft. Links below are clickable. Here's a video below - this guy used connectors - I thought soldering was easier and cheaper. Installing undercabinet LED strips I suggest watching other videos also, search youtube on "led under cabinet lighting installation" and you will find several. I installed about 2-1/2" from the face of the cabinet to avoid shadows. You'll need 120V for the power supply. Lots of different type LEDs - brightness, temperature (color). Here's a list of the things I ordered from Amazon: power supply - $9 LED strip lights - $15 for 16 feet 26 gauge wire - $7.60 for a spool to connect the LED strips (solder) Aluminum channel diffusers - $27 for 5 pieces of 1 yard each Dimmers - $10 for 3. Optional parts. I never seem to use mine. Since then I've added LEDs to my RV, a closet or two, and plans for more.
