I wish your kitchen cabinetry and the entertainment center were the same finish for a more coordinated look in such a small space. Lack of lighting (other than one lamp and what appears to be light from a skylight) is the main issue that might force you to go with white. If you can improve the lighting, I think you can add some color if you want to. How about installing some LED lighting in the e-center? Your end tables are too short for the sofa; replace them and add table lamps for that side of the room at night (see chart below for measurements.) You could move the floor lamp slightly behind the two chairs for a reading spot. Last step would be lowering the three pictures so they are centered 5' above the floor and only one hand's breadth apart. A more interesting way to hang them would be vertically where the lamp is now with the middle one centered 5' above the floor and one hand's breadth between them. If two are the same size and one different, use the larger one in the center for a focal point. May be the camera angle that makes them look different sizes.

You may be trying to force the warm wood tones and the cool grays together. You don't need to. Farmhouse is more about decor and less about colors. I am seeing many more farmhouse kitchens with white or cream walls: This is supposed to be a Joanna Gaines kitchen - note the mixture of white and warm wood tones. While the cabinets are white in this pic, they don't have to be. Avoid to much cliche farm house decor and spend some time walking through a few antique shops. You might style your hutch with some antique china, platter, milkglass etc. It does not have to be expensive or done at one time. This picture gives somewhat an idea - I am having trouble accessing all my pics today:) There is a bit much in those cabinets for a hutch - I would pare it down a bit. You also might want to consider bin style pulls for the drawers as in both pics above. I can take a while to make your kitchen feel like the space you want - take your time and keep your eyes open for decor etc that you like. Don't try for magazine perfect:)

Actually I did think about that as a layout but do not like have blocked bulky and have no openings to get into the living room but one. and i see that the couch (smaller) is pulled out into the slider. That brings it 3 feet from the dining room. We are talking the ability to walk around it 3 ft and maybe a small console (I have seen this with smaller scalled furniture) It is super tight. If I do Italian leather and get lower furniture so you can see past it and it has and open feeling which I am thinking of changing It might work but I want to keep it looking open and when you look at the back of the couch coming from a kitchen which is 6ft away . It cannot be a high back couch in my oppinion. But yes this layout might be a possibility. I appreciate your input

A much belated update; I had a few familial emergencies that zapped my time. Maybe it was better. I really had to live with the house before making big decisions. Anyway...just reread your comments to me and--- You were all right about the backsplash. I hated that horrid backsplash from the first morning I stayed there. Despised it, actually. I wasn't a fan of the outdated granite but couldn't afford to change it. I looked. Sooo...can live with it. Since I'm at the beach I just think of it as the color and picture of wet sand ... That backsplash drove me crazy. First--so freaky busy. Second--sooo outdated (and this house was built '15 or '16). I've been to every tile store with hundreds of samples and the tile I think looks best is this one: Tantan Beige 4×4 - Style-Access. I don't know how the color shows up on monitors. Now the big decision is 4x4 stacked or 3x6 stacked or regular brick look. While the 4x4 is modern, I don't know if it goes with the cabinets/area. What do you think? 4x4? 3x6? What about layout? regular brick layout? stacked? To me, diagonal is waaay too much for the area. What do you, as experts, think? It's not a big area, as pictured in the first post a year ago. Then, I'll be off to explore paint colors for the entire house!
