No need to hide the name Jenn-air. Jenn-air has been , since 2006, the most reliable SxS and built in fridge according to respondents to Consumer Reports surveys, (Not CR's take, but inputs from buyers of the JA fridges). (Disclaimer)!!!! To be honest, I have not checked to see whose ahead in 2013 I bought mine in 2006, due to the features it had, No other 48" built in had those features back in 2006. I also checked CR before buying, At the time, there were only 3 manufacturers of 48" built in fridges, GE, SZ and JA. JA was rated number one for reliability again by CR respondents to a survey, (NOT CR's take). One of the contenders was "dead last" in that same survey, and since I already owned a GE and could not get parts for the ice maker, even after only one year, and rust along the side of it, GE was OUT TOO!! Anyway, long story short, bought the JA and we have loved it for going on 7 years now. I Can't speak about the other JA appliance, (No personal experience), but reading reviews on their newest appliances, most seem to be positive, and I do like some of the features on the newer ones. AS I mentioned, (in other posts), I do hate their "hide the price marketing scheme", something they picked up from SZ, (who has since abandoned that foolish Marketing Scheme)! Gary

We have an oven/microwave combo (KitchenAid). If I could redo my kitchen I might do that part differently. I did not know when I designed my kitchen last year that microwave drawers were a thing. If I had known I might have chosen that with a built in oven instead. I do not dislike our oven/microwave however I do have concerns about the microwave breaking. The fan was actually broken when we installed it, and we had to get it repaired. So if something happens to it, I know we will have to pull the entire unit out to get it fixed which is more of a pain than just fixing a microwave. The other issue I have with it is that microwave is a little higher than I would like. We installed the unit 1.5" higher than they recommend (so I could have a 15" drawer below) and since I'm only 5'3" the microwave is a little bit high for me. Even installing it at suggested height would still leave it higher than the ideal. A drawer would be a nicer height most likely. I definitely like having a separate gas rangetop and built in oven. There are many reasons I want them separate, so a range was never an option for me. But I probably won't combine the oven and microwave again if I did another kitchen.

I had a double oven in my former home and now have a MW/single oven combo in my new home. NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. If I had a choice today, I would opt for double ovens and a separate microwave, either on the counter or under counter. Also, it's highly unlikely that you will be able to fit the new unit into the same space without some cabinet modification. Good luck.

In my old oven/mw combo unit, the mw died after two years, but the oven kept going for another 15 years. I didn't want to experience that again, so when the oven finally began to fail, I replaced them with separate units. It was easy to build a shelf to make a mw cubby above the new oven. The expense was in creating an electrical outlet & redoing the wiring. IIRC, it was about $2K to run wiring. We also created a new breaker box nearby for the oven & mw, so that added to the costs. Better infrastructure is always worth the $, imo. My new oven is a GE Profile Twin Flex: two small ovens in the space of a single. So nice to have a double oven now after only having one previously!
