Backsplash finished - sneak peak at almost done kitchen
Comments (21)Thank you so much everyone. My DH, who, with me by his side, has done all of the remodeling was so patient with my selection of the backsplash. Funny thing is that I circled back to the exact same tile I originally wanted. After looking at so many, not quite right whites, I think I finally got over the cost issue. I also found that by working with a distributer of Sonoma directly in california the price was significantly better than locally in the midwest - even after shipping costs. Lake_girl - our cabinets are also not a pure white, a soft white (Crystal calls it frosty white). The sonoma creamy is a little "creamier" than our white and without the grout they looke even more cream. So I do believe that the grout can change the "look" of your white subways. Bee - I will be more than happy to measure. I want to say it is 49" or 50" inside the posts but I'll measure and let you know for sure. Red - (Makes me think of one of my current favorite shows, Once Upon A Time - Red Riding hood :) ) --- The longer pulls are also a top knob pull. It is the TopKnob M965. My Knobs are the Top Knob M354, and the bin pulls are Top Knob M364. All in Antique Pewter finish. I found the best prices at topknobs.com. Loved hunting the web for the best prices for this project. My floor tile is from Italy and the local distributer thought their distributer "carried" it, but it turns out they special ordered so our tile people wouldn't order it. I emailed someone in Italy off the manufacturers website and they sent me a list of all US carriers. It turns out that I got the same tile for over 1000.00 less, out of Florida, including shipping. So excited! That was out of www.fastfloors.com. Love it when you get great deals on a great product for your remodeling efforts!...See MoreSneak peak of my Barker kitchen!!!
Comments (16)MGMum...yes I am keeping the green. I contemplated painting the walls a light grey but when the cabinets came in the warmth of the wood called for something else. The green just seemed to complement the cherry perfectly. Something funny...completely coincidentally, the paint color is Behr Witch Hazel. The pattern name of our Corian countertops is also Witch Hazel but it's a white, maybe slightly off-white with faint swirls of tan and grey...where do they come up with these names??? jennifer132...the big ol' shop vac, ugggghh!!! Always in the way when not in use but invaluable still...and yes, a definite sign of veteran DIY'ers!!! Yes, we are doing the light Corian counters (as described above). Originally wanted soapstone but it's was far above what I was willing to pay so I happily and eagerly switched to the Corian...I'm just not a granite girl....See MoreSneak Peak: Fun time! Accent color for gray and white kitchen
Comments (7)I wonder if F&B colors vary so much during the day with different lighting because of the absence of black in their paint, as well as the volume of colorants in their paint? The Cornforth White is pretty consistent in our rooms: a light pale neutral gray, although at the brightest time of day, I once thought I saw a slight green undertone. In morning light today (east window), I took the whole ensemble of my plans: our china, the F&B Pale Powder, one of many light green upholstery samples but this one has some silver embossing which I like, and art wall which brings in the Phillipsburg Blue from the dining room as well as the olive colors of the family room rather nicely. With a gold tone frame, it will offer a second color of gold found in the Hampton chandelier. F&B Blue Gray and Pigeon tucked in plate: I am thinking to forego cafe curtains and look into reed roman shades instead to bring in warmth. Top down for the kitchen and the pull up, push down for the bath in same material. F&B Teresa's Green and Green Blue may work too as it's a little more pronounced than Pale Powder. Do you think I should go slightly darker with the F&B accent color? The choice may be used on chairs and table legs. Thank you for your feedback. It helps me a lot. I'm not feeling my husbands red and yellow in the space, or any bright primary color, but he's okay with what ever I choose. He just wants to get back in the kitchen. :)...See MoreSneak peak at my custom Amish made kitchen (pic heavy)
Comments (27)Thank you everyone! We are so excited! The cabinets should be done in the next 2-3 weeks. We are closing on our current house Dec. 12, and hoping to be in the new house by Feb. 1. BalTra, this is the only other picture of the wine cubbies that we have, taken from the back, without the shelves. These weren't in the plans, but a last minute change suggested by the cabinetmaker. I would guess the cubbie space is 5-6 inches, so you'd definitely have room if you have 12". I uploaded a few more pictures to share... Better photo of the door sample: Kitchen at sunset: there's actually really great light during the day. this is the foyer, going into the great room. the kitchen is off to the right. looking into the kitchen from the great room (ignore Elmo on outer island place holder).
