This is the front entry to our small, plain, house. It opens right into the living room and faces the kitchen (Kitchen re-do is next Spring's project!). We are getting a new entry door, and new oak trim and baseboards that will be the same color as the refinished floor. What color should I use for the interior of the new door? The doors I'm considering have several paint or stain options for the interior. The seam where the floor was patched, to the left of the front door will be hidden by the coat closet being built there. Since the coat closet's bi-fold (?) door will be next to the front door, perpendicular to it; what color should the closet door be painted?

I successfully installed one of these before over a different door way last summer. I'm now having a problem installing a second one. This is a 10' wide awning over a slightly less than 10' wide doorway (the first awning did successfully was wider than this one, over a 12' wide doorway). The issue now is that where I need to bolt one of the two mounting brackets, there is no vertical stud or header in the wall, on the right side of the opening, about 6 inches past the door frame. I have only a few inches total to the left or right where I can mount this, so I'm limited to a small width where this needs to be installed. Siding is 3/4" thick vertical wood boards, over solid insulation board (not sure of the complete wall anatomy; it's a 12 y/o house that we bought 3 years ago). I removed a batten on each side of the doorway and did some exploratory drilling. On the left side, no problem. On the right side, nothing structural directly beneath the siding and insulation. The awning is mounted on two cast aluminum brackets that are 2" wide and ~6" high, with holes for two half inch lag bolts, separated by about 3" one above the other. I'm looking for advice on how I can secure the bracket on the right side of the door frame. Or, to expand that that slightly, I'm also interested to learn how a professional might approach this sort of challenge, if people think this is best left to a professional. Thanks in advance. A curtain would be an excellent way of reducing air exchange between basement and first floor. If you don't already own one,order a hygrometer off Amazon or Ebay. You will then be able to see the results.

Thanks all! @ci_lantro Yes, the off-centered doorway is going to drive me nuts, but that would be the case anyway. We are shifting the left line of cabinets over 12", but since the left edge of the door frame is tracking along with it, nothing will change there as far as the alignment goes. What will create the off-center is that we are getting rid of that corner cabinet (which you can see in the bottom picture), and just going with a straight row of cabinets. I'm excited to swap out a barely functional lazy susan for a much more functional cabinet with pot drawers. But yeah, that leaves too much space on the right. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of putting the fridge or a tall pantry there there to help distract from this, so I'll have to explore that idea some. Thanks @emilyam819! @wiscokid Yes, the wall with the pass-through is coming down. EDITED TO ADD: I would love to hire a contractor to move the doorway over in order to center it and remove the issue all together, but then we are talking about moving at least one support beam, and I'm afraid that will blow my budget :(
