Thoughts - Wood tile in bath & real wood floors in adjoining area
Comments (2)You've many options and I think they'd all look nice - it's more on what you prefer. You could try to match the two surfaces. You could use a threshold that matches the hall floor, you could use a threshold that matches the bathroom floor or you could use a marble threshold (same marble as in the bath). For these last three, you could try it out with cardboard thresholds and paint, just to get an idea, with the door open and closed....See MoreNeed help with wood stain choices in master bath...
Comments (2)I can do a dry wall return and plan to have the tile wrap to the window. The window is in its own little cove, so there is also a 6" deep ledge which I'm going to do with the quartzite (like the counters). Forgot to mention that I'm planning to do wood plantation shutters as well rather than blinds or curtains, and am thinking that white shutters on white trim is my only real option here...partly because the door to the bath is indeed framed in oak, and the window is straight ahead of the door so you would definitely see both stains at once if I trimmed the window with the dark cherry stain. The other thing is that the white will keep it bright, as the outside light is limited since faces north and large shade trees just outside....See MoreMaster bath remodel: wood tile wet room help?
Comments (1)IMO wood look tile is already dated and was always best put where you would do real wood so not in a shower for instance. I like a clean look of 12 x24 porcelain tile in a color you like and used for the floor in the bathroom and the walls in the shower with the same color in smaller tiles for the shower floor. Then some white fixtures , chrome metal. FYI to have a free satnding tub you need at least 12” all around it just to be able to clean. Not sure what the last pics are since they do not show a free standing tub. A nice simple modern drop in tub with no wall tile would be nice . Please no tower on the new counter , you have ahuge space I am pretty sure you vcan find enough room for storage somewhere else. Make sure all your lighting is LED 4000K if you want all the choices you make to stay true at night I also would do the new lighting before making choices ....See MoreHelp with master bath flooring (wood to wood transition with bedroom)!
Comments (8)@kandrewspa, it is a medium stone gray 12x24 ceramic tile (see close up below). The vanity is a white washed oak (see close up again, the lighting was bad in my original photo!). The vanity manufacturer does have other colors (white, gray and black walnut), and other designs (that are more modern); we love the quality. I like neutrals (my whole house is neutral!), like white/off white, gray, wood and black (black more as accents like mirrors and frames and hardware). Liking the satin brass too. I will try to find photos on Houzz. I don't want the bathroom to feel cold (and the natural light is not great)....See MoreMark Bischak, Architect
