Beautiful place. In the next month, the bulbs and flowering shrubs will be out in full bloom. Ask the sellers what the hedge shrubs are. Perhaps they can be pruned way back to knee height, perhaps they'll just have to be removed completely. Once the shrubs are not in the picture, you'll be able to see the house better. I don't think it needs any structures added in the first year while you get the landscaping back in shape.

Hi everyone! First houzz post and in desperate need of your help! We just added this portico with a redish door and need to figure out the right balance of colors for the interior of the portico and the trim around the door. The color is not a pure red but a 'masa red', which is a little duller and has some pink tones. I added pictures with labels for where the colors are going and a closeup of the interior panels where our questions are. Biggest issues: 1) the portico trim will be black but my wife and I are unsure of the trim around the door, also black? My wife is thinking white but I'm not sure that works (the big picture window will have black trim too). 2) the inner panels of the portico can be (black trim/red interior or black/white or white/black or white/red). We're both afraid of it looking too gimmicky with 3 colors and can't figure out what would look the most 'natural' given the color scheme. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! thanks!! Rami

That would be so attractive with the Chippendale railing. Neither of the examples below have deep landings. So unless you want to sit out there five feet should be fine. Are you thinking something like this? Or this?
