Lg or ge profile electric range and otr microwave HELP
Comments (2)I bought the high end LG gas 30 inch gas non convection oven and the OTR matching microwave in 2008. My Advice don't by LG... unfortunately it is pretty garabage Microwave pad starting cutting off randomly and you have to open mircowave door to press the pad and hope that it works. Most often, when I boil a pot of spaghetti and run the vent at highest power, the pad cuts out again (I am assuming from the steam) and will not work again until mid morning next day... I asked LG for replacement... waste of time. the oven heat is uneven -hotter in the right front- have to constantly move pans and baking cakes is impossible, and the oven handle keeps coming loose and requires a special tool and guess what you have to pay for a $75.00 service call No more LG for me. I am moving next month and I am thrilled to be leaving them behind! I will never buy another product made in Korea or China....See MoreSave me from the OTR microwave!
Comments (21)Most folks I hear saying they don't like a micro drawer haven't used one. We have one and use it daily -- at least, and we all like it. I can't imagine having it anywhere else in my kitchen and putting things into it and taking them out is actually easier than reaching into any other micro I've had (countertop, over the counter, one a cart, OTR -- done them all). I did have one in a corner before, and it made good use of what would have been dead space, but in this kitchen, between the sink and stove seems like it would be fine for the cook, but a pain if the kids or DH might want to warm something or make a snack while someone else is cleaning or cooking. Might work for some but not for others. In this space, I'd like a drawer between the pantry and range or an over the counter -- but you lose upper cabinet space -- pretty much like the one in the photo kristine posted....See Morelayout help - where to put microwave. Comments (14)Thnaks for the replies. I was all excited about the microwave drawer until I saw the price - $5-600?!? Seriously! DH would flip! We are already looking for places to cut costs as this build is seriously pushing our budget. The hanging sapcesaver MW is an idea. We'd have to get dimensions and check it out, as that space (under the cabs on that side) was going to be for the coffee maker. I personally like the pantry idea, but not sure DH will go for it. I'll bring it up tho. On the updated plans it looks like the pantry has been whittled down to 4'10 by 5ft and has a chunk taken out of the corner, so I am not sure how much space will be in there. I don't want to get rid of the message center all together. It IS full height (it is going to house slots for mail for each family member, cook books, recycling can underneath for mail recycling, and our cordless phone) and only 12 in deep I think so not sure a MW could go there anyway. I linked the updated plans below. SIGH. This is so hard....all for a stupid MW. Grr. Here is a link that might be useful:...See MoreIf you have an OTR microwave
Comments (5)Some otr microwaves are not completely flat underneath. The back part underneath part of mine comes down a little lower than the front. Not noticeable when looking straight on. That part is 19 inches from stove top but front bottom of doors is about 20 inches. I did mine a bit higher because I wanted the distance between counter and cabinets higher and did not want the microwave to hang lower than the light rail plus I didn't want microwave right in my face. Look at the bottom of the new microwave if you can in person because the front part could be 18 above stove but the back could be lower which would make it closer to top of stove....See MoreKatie
