Weekend Trivia -- Saturday
Comments (37)Wow, what a great list. You all are awesome. Here are a few more that I think are unmentioned yet. Gentle as a lamb A sheepish smile A different kettle of fish Open a can of worms Quick like a bunny High on the hog If we came up with this many this fast, there must be even more. Feel free to come back and add more, if you think of any. I think I'll compile a list just for fun. Fantastic job, everyone. for you all. TM...See MoreReached 100 with names and pics (lots)
Comments (14)Thank you for the compliments. It makes me feel rather proud of myself! lol Only on this forum with fellow hosta people can you truly feel like your efforts and your plants are appreciated. The Mugo Pine: I had one at my other house that I planted and I am well aware that they should be candled. My plant was very healthy looking and quite nice. This one at this house is over 40 years old and I trim out the dead every spring (all 3 springs) and cut away branches. When I first moved here, you couldn't even see underneath of it. This summer has been so dry that the dead bits are increasing and I certainly cannot reach the top to candle it. I have been considering doing something with the leftover trunk pieces if I cut it down. I will definitely google 'limb it up'. Thanks for the advice and encouragement. Ken, my title was meant to convey the content of the post, names of my 100 hostas plus some pics; sorry it was unclear. The list that I posted only has 99 names as I forgot to include Golden Meadows. Incidentally after today, it is 102. Today I purchased Emerald Necklace and Smooth Sailing (we have a sailboat so I wanted my DH to feel included!). Now I wait with much anticipation until my hostas mature so I can see what they will look like in my particular conditions. Lee Valley has several options, the one that I have is inexpensive but it takes some time to set up, however; after that is it very easy. I leave mine outside all winter, too. I used the exact same one all around the perimeter of my deck at my other house as I had 50 odds pots of plants; so this system is about 10 years old and still going strong. Thanks again! Comments (150)That's so funny! That time I thought you were just being silly! Good news at the dentist always makes for a better day! Yay! Lisa - I'm so sorry that I've been remiss in taking time to post on the board that I received my prize package from you. I sent you an e-mail when it arrived on Monday. I hope you received it. To everyone else - Lisa sent me the nicest box of prizes from last month's games. For some game when I was the next person to post (it seems like we were waiting for Tracy to materialize but I don't remember why) she sent me some nice gloves and plant markers. For finding that tiny Christmas tree, thereby putting an end to her 'I Spy' game, she sent me a plant off of my want list. She chose to give me Phlox 'Orange Perfection'. I was very excited to get this, as I've never seen it in my area. And, just because she's so sweet, Lisa sent me another start from Larry's iris collection! I'm a lucky girl!...See MoreNeed to buy new computer - where to begin?
Comments (10)Jennifer, I would have been here sooner but I had to eat my way through the M&Ms. My new system is 2 months old now and as anyone here who knows me I was dragged into the 21st centtury kicking and screaming. The old system, a HP 400mhz P2 WIN98 OE suited me for what I was doing. It was just the learning curve getting wider and wider. I spent a lot of time researching purveyors and manufacturers. I finally decided on a dual core Vista HP a6040n DVD +/- RW 2 gigs ram with a 17" flat screen monitor for around $1100.00 at Best Buy. I dumped the included trial Norton and installed AVG. The system has everything I need and more. I'm not a gamer either and I have no regrets. I was searching for a double drive system when I was advised that with the current software only one was necessary. No outward saving to the HD they told me. They were right. In actuality if you are copying a disk with Roxio 9 you 1: Insert the original in the drive, 2: Utilize the software, 3: When notified remove the original disk and replace it with a blank disk and 4: Click to finish. Nothing to it. Even I can do it. I am not certain if your version of Word will work on Vista. However, I am now using Open Office (Word compatible) without any concern. Whatever you get I am certain you will enjoy it greatly. Good Luck! Da...See Morebeverlymnz4
