Dolly, regarding your question about the KT Texas get together picture

Dolly, in answer to your question: most do not post here, anymore. So much has changed at the KT. The get together's were awesomely fun!

Those in the picture, no longer with us: Dave, Monica, Mary Ann from Tx, Nita.

Buzzard, the hostess lost her husband shortly after the meeting.

Not that sure about some of the others.

Posters remaining at KT: Joan MN, me, Moni, and Liz, Flamey, both, occasionally.

Dave's photo site was called Critterscape and his photo friends kept it up for a long time after he died.. I used to have a live link to it but it no longer works. The site must have been taken down. I think it was on Zen photos...or something close to that. He was a phenomenally talented photographer. I, too, Glenda, loved his cat photos. Everything he photographed was brilliant. It's such a shame it's no longer available on the internet. I searched and searched but couldn't find it. He was a very talented artist.

Now the thought of lime is in the newcomer's head. A lot of yankees come down here and lime the soil, and they are very sad cuz it ruins the garden for a few years. It's limey soil from the bottom of an ancient ocean.. This throws the newcomer off for the product even being mentioned, and I can go back and show that these types of comments are clustered amongst a very tiny number of posters. It's all about not offering helpful specifics, putting on useless airs, and sprinkling pixie dust everywhere.. Why even mention lime? To show you know enough to be dangerous? And whatever happened to men, manning up? I say, practice "Zen in the Garden", and listen to what the newcomer is saying and know the facts first... cuz they ain't gonna know what terminology, quirks, and motives (boredom?) one has, that's why they are relying on complete strangers with a question. Common courtesy demands concision in this type of exchange, no?...maybe so... Mackel

Dawn, Thanks for the info on the brugs and daturas! I have grown white single flowered daturas for years. Mine come back from the roots. I grew from seed two different varieties of the single white last year and they also came back from the roots this year. I recently planted some datura seeds, some are doubles, I think in purple and yellow. I am curious if they will grow as big as the single whites and if they will winter over? My seeds are barely up now. I love datura and brugmansia and am glad to know that other Okies grow them as well! Hope to see many blooms this year!!! ***Grannygreenthumb***...Do you know what Garden Center the lady has in Tulsa that you got your brug from? I live in Tulsa and wonder if she sells them here? How is your brug since you planted it in the ground? ***Beerhog*** Are you in zone 7a or 7b?? I planted three brugs in the ground this year and am debating on leaving them in the ground. I have sandy soil. This is my first year to grow them. I am growing many from cuttings and will keep them in pots until they are bigger. Do yours in the ground grow as tall as your picture every year and bloom well?? I have heard if they freeze to the ground they take longer to bloom. Just slap some pipes together! (Just kidding - don't do that!) Based on your "new DIY" posting, I'd strongly suggest getting some help to learn. Even hooking up a plain old sink for a rookie can be a challenge - this is tricky in several respects for a novice. (too many places to have leaks, for one thing).

I was supposed to go to the Texas Get-together at Buzzard's...Nita said that was like 5 years ago! Couldn't believe. Judy and I found our local connections; Bbabers was a librarian, I've been on our town's library board and Friend's board. Nita's folks and my folks all lived in Naples, FL and, of course, felt like I've known her for years...guess I have. I've been busy, but have been lurking, thanks for keeping my phone number all these years, Nita. Judy and I decided for the next get-together...we're driving there together! Had a wonderful time yesterday, looking forward to the next one.

I loved Dave! One of the most awesome nature photographers. My all time favorite pic of his was one made in the swamp. It was a yellow bellied water snake completely covered in duck weed. You could just see his eyes. I had it on my old computer. Would love to have it again.

His website was still up for a long time. I wonder if it's still being maintained? I lost the address in all of my losses. That's a flash back picture!

I was really busy today... and just got back online. Had computer problems for a while, lots to do... and then saw this post, and added my comment above. From all those in the picture really only Glenda and I regularly post here. But Flamey, ka FlamingO and Joan still come often.

I don't think I ever saw his cat pictures. I remember for awhile he got together with Mrscharms. I think that was her name. Seems like her real name was Janice.

His cats were priceless, Marilyn. But then, anything he photographed was wonderful. The detail of his photos was just outstanding...equivalent to Nat Geo type of work. I don't remember a Mrscharms...but then, these days I have trouble remembering my own name. [Not really. But it sure seems that way some days. sigh]

Janice and Dave came by my place, when they were a couple. Didn't last long with the two. Her mother, Elaine, from NJ, came and spent several nights with me, when we had a KT get together at LK Grace's home, in B'ham.
