Proper spacing & trailing over fence concerns
Comments (4)Kimcoco, you could extend the fence up with the addition of those fence trellis panels. I think they come in 2 x 8 foot sections that match your existing fence. Not sure if it would be worth it to you to gain 2' though. I also have seen modern looking fence sections where they have used cable as the cross wires. You could drill holes in the top of your posts, stick steel rods in them & attach wire cables across. I think the later, would be much cheaper. To my understanding, a clem is going to grow to it's designated height, whether it's going straight up, going sideways, or doubling over itself. If most of your clems are going to get 10' tall, they will grow up the 4' fence & grow 6' in both directions. Maybe not that far if they double over on themselves. It seems a lot of people prefer putting their clems on shorter structures to get the doubled over effect as well as letting them grow together sideways. Me being so new at this, I share your fear after seeing flowerfans' pics. I would want to up the fence a little too....See MoreProper method to hanging clothes on clothesline?
Comments (18)bookert - As an avid knitter/crocheter, I'm really fussy about drying sweaters and I use a couple different drying racks. Google - Sweater Drying Rack and you'll find several styles and prices - such as... http://www.organize-it-online.com/itm_sweatdry1.html?cmpid=Froogle. I also have a portable rack that is flat (similar to this one: http://greenhome.huddler.com/products/polder-argento-deluxe-freestanding-dryer). It's about 30"x20" and has 11 wire lines. I like it because I can also pin things to the wires (a real space saver), or lay a sweater on the top, and it folds for easy storage. I also have a traditional wooden clotheshorse and a wall-mount expandable (accordion) clothes rack where I dry wet things in the laundry room before they get tossed in the baskets. FYI - When I hang clothes on hangers on my outside line, I slip the wire hooks of the wooden hangers on the ends of the umbrella clothes line where the plastic clothes line loops are located. Just hook them on the clothes line loops. No more clothes taking flight. I have a friend who's husband rigged a line made out of light-weight chain and she puts the hooks of the hangers through the links in the chain and they not only stay put no matter how windy it gets, they don't ever slide together. Necessity is often the mother of invention. -Grainlady...See MoreProper way to light art
Comments (9)I have the same art lighting need...and decided to use low voltage 3" recessed cans, airtight/IC w/integral transformer (10 yr.), using Gimbal trims (0-40 degrees). This way I get a very directional MR16 50W spot flood on the paintings without anything projecting below the ceiling hardly (eyeballs hang down further than these gimbals do). As a rule it's best to find the angle range the trim ring can project, and then check that angle to your wall using a protractor and string to be certain you place the cans correctly from the wall. I have I joists in my ceiling, so setting up can placement is very easy. You simply extend the straps over the I joist sheetrock nailers, and they hang by themselves. Then you simply move them left to right with a stick in that bay to line them up with others etc. FWIW...See MoreWill hanging a chandelier this way look stupid?
