Furniture Design Dilemma living room

Looking for good comfortable recliner

Hello,

I am on the search for a good comfortable leather push back ( not power) recliner that is big enough to support my head if I fall asleep and keep my feet up. Unfortunately where I live we have few furniture stores and very limited options. This has lead me to look online but I must admit not having the chance to actually sit in before purchasing makes me nervous. I have look at these stores online: Wayfair, Hayneedle, Pottery Barn, etc.. If anyone has a push back leather recliner that is awesome and you love the feel and fit please let me know. Or if anyone has suggestions on where to shop online or in Los Angeles, Ca please let me know.

Recliners..difficult purchase, even if you had lots of furniture stores. The best one I have come across is made by Flexsteel in their Digby line. It looks like a regualar chair, so no big clunky thing, and there is a fabric line that only Flexsteel carries. Called Kashmira, it looks like leather or suede, but it isn’t. Gorgeous colors and the fabric is practically indestructible. There is an upcharge for the fabric, but more than worth it. Often there is at least one on the floor and it is priced much lower than a custom order.

I second flexsteel; quality product that is very comfortable!

Did you price the chair through one of the North Carolina stores? I did so just in the last two weeks- ordered from Basista, which is in Cleveland Ohio, as two fellow poster's had a good experience with them. I saved about $600 on a sofa. I don't think they carry Flexsteel though. If you can find a chair you like in another store, I would price it with these stores. I felt sort of guilty- I was in the store where I usually buy my furniture- looking their samples, sitting on their sofa. Then I ordered from the NC store. Well- not too guilty- if their prices were as good, I would have ordered from them, as you know the NC stores are making a profit also- my 'old' store is just a bit too greedy.

Leather or upholstered? In hubby's home theater room we started out with a LaZBoy couch. Something went wrong with the workings and the upholestery was ripped from the inside (under warranty) so we used the warranty value to trade for two recliners with a custom upholstery. Three weeks into the recliners the upholstery was coming apart at the seams so we traded for two new recliners with a completely different custom upholstery. Within 6 months that upholstery was fraying on the arms (we rarely used these chairs) and had started to streak. It was a fight but we got our money back and decided to go leather. One thing that I always hated about the recliners was -- they look like recliners. Eww. At NFM (great if you live in Eastern KS) we found a reclining sofa and recliner pair that are very comfortable, have lasted well so far (we've had them about 5 years now), and don't look like what I call the typical "80s moon boots" reclining furniture. I will see if I can find a picture. Not overbearing at all, IMO.

I recently bought mine from LazyBoy. I never thought I'd buy a recliner again because, like you, I don't like that "puffy, typical recliner look" in my decor. But, this looks ok, it's a smaller recliner and goes all the way back. And you have a choice of hundreds of fabrics. Plus, it was a very fair price for a decent piece of furniture. My husband LOVES it and it looks nice too.

That fabric that looks like leather is just not leather. It does not breathe and IMO is still just naugahyde with a different name. IMO there is no way to tell someone what is comfortable for them. I am 5’10” I have a friend who is 4’10” there is no way we can both be comfortable in anything.

Patricia, investigate Kashmira. IMO, it is a miracle fabric and hardly naugahyde.

What recliner do you recommend?

I hate recliners because they take up room and are bulky. I cannot get in nor out because I am short. I would recommend a nice, comfortable club chair with a matching ottoman. Give that a try.
