Are cats good hunters ?
Comments (26)Calicos are good hunters because genetically they are usually females. Females tend to be better hunters because they have to feed their young. My Gwynne was an awesome hunter. She would bring back rabbits bigger than her. It was comical to see her stumble along with a biggie. She was a fearless cat and would tackle anything. I half way expected to see one of the neighbor's cows in her jaws sometime. . lol However, she just couldn't get along with the rest of the barn cats. . she ran them all off! Mask was a nicer cat but had a nasty habit of crawling up dad's bird feeding station and waiting for a bird. I think he expected one to just fly into his mouth. . .dad found him another home. Good thing . . he got a bit rough with my hostas while birding my gardens. We only have one cat now. . . Mephibosheth. He wouldn't eat a dirty mouse if his life depended on it. . .it's like.. . Hey lady! What's wrong with the can opener?? And couldja please heat the victuals up a bit this time? The only things he attacks are my feet and hands in the hosta patch. . .scares the bejeebers outta me sometimes. . . . I'll be on my knees weeding. .just day dreaming about my T-Rex reaching full maturity and . . BAM. . the next thing I know I am wondering if T-Rex has just jumped on my hand!. . lol I have had great luck using the PVC pipe bait stations that someone mentioned on the forum a couple years back. Worked great on my rodent problem! Sidney...See MoreStraight from Miami! Thanks Mike! (pics)

Comments (12)I have to come clean...my first reaction was "good for that bear!" Then I realized that I don't REALLY want to see people get gored, chewed or clawed by anything, even though it may be a case like this where the person was the one dealing out the initial injury. But what do you expect any animal to do when you are attempting to kill it?? Kinda like the fact that quite a few rattlesnake bites occur when someone is trying to KILL THEM. I agree with Jillmcm in that certain kinds of hunting really seem pointless. Cougar hunting and bear hunting come to mind immediately. Although I know years ago we had a certain neighbor who went bear hunting somewhere up north every year, and the years he was successful he had a huge barbecue. Of course the years he didn't get his bear he would have to cook a goat instead, but at least he planned to eat 'his' bear nonetheless. And no, I never went--heard either meat is really realy greasy....See MorePat Benatar @ Walker, MN....
Comments (11)Yes, crazy, spur of the moment events are the best. I just went the other weekend in TN to see Pat Benatar & reo. We had a blast. We had a table & it was so much fun. We were able to bring coolers with alcoholic beverages & there was a tent (air conditioned, thank goodness) that had a bar & buffet for people that have a table. I'm spoiled now. I danced my arse off to "Love is a Battlefield" - that was the video on Mtv & I thought she was the BEST! I thought she looked great, too. Enjoyed singing along with Reo. In August we are going to hear Blondie & Cheap Trick. Can't wait to see Debra Harry - she is a cool woman rocker, too. I'll get to see my bartender that told me "I was a weapon of marriage destruction!" Ha ha....got my little middle aged ego stroked for the nite. LOL But bartenders do make good friends:) We are doing these concerts as a "girls nite out" - getting a designated driver & partying like we were in college again!! Smiles:)...See More- 8 years agolast modified: 8 years ago
